I think navy would be fine. just because its a darker color doesnt mean it doesnt fit in the with a summer wedding espeically if you paired it with a lighter color, like the ivory/gold or even yellow!
@totheislnds: That's true. We are planning on pairing navy and khaki for the guys, and I'm using very bright, vibrant colors for the flowers. Thanks!
I think you should be just fine.. but what do I know.. My girls will be in long black satin in July :-/
I'm getting married in August and my girls will be in solid navy. I would just have them carry brighter flowers. :)
@neenbean15: I think the the kahki/navy for the guys and bright vibran flowers it would be a PERFECT summer, classic rustic/barn wedding! I think it would be GORGEOUS! :)
@totheislnds: i thought so! Except..I went to see my aunt yesterday.. and she told me my STDs looked like a Halloween invitation :-/ uhh...thanks?

We are getting married at a Hudson Valley barn in the beginning of June. My dress is very classic/pretty formal, and I'd really like to keep the bridesmaid dresses long to match the style. We are getting married in the very late afternoon (probably 4:30 or 5:00).
The bridesmaid dresses I'm looking at are chiffon, but despite the lightweight material, do you think navy is an inappropriate color given the atmosphere/time of year? I'm also considering a bright plum-ish purple, or several shades of ivory/light gold.
Any insight would be appreciated!!
Thanks!!
