Do you have pictures of the room? That might help you figure out the proper configuration to start with...is it a long/skinny room? Square? Are there pillars or any other obstructions in the room that would interfere with the tables?
It is a rectangular room with pillars on one side of the room. The measurments are:
52 ft long
40 ft wide
15ft from wall to pillars on the shorter side of the room
14 ft between the pillars
** the Long tables are 8 ft long
Long rectangle tables are a huge pain in the butt to get in and out of. Also, they restrict conversations more than round tables do. Servers find it awkward as well, especially if there is not alot of space between the tables.
Most venues when they list a maximum capacity number like that don't account for any tables in the room. You need to talk to the venue to see what the maximum is with tables, plus the other stuff you will be including such as a dance floor, an area for the dj to be set up, a cake table, guestbook table, etc where no one will be sitting.
I like the look of both, but prefer round tables because it is easier to conversate! Good luck!
I would ask your contact at your venue what works best. They've been through many events there, so they'll know!
I know they're not practical, but I do love the look of long tables!

I am getting married in a hall that only holds 175 people max. We have close to that number coming. I need to know if long tables or round tables take up more space????
