I'm doing short. And they're black. They really can wear it again and that was what I wanted.
I think it depends on the formality of the wedding and the location. We are having a black tie wedding, so the bridesmaids are wearing floor length black satin gowns.
I chose floor length - - I didn't start off with floor length though...I hadn't yet decided on my wedding gown and once I decided on my wedding gown, which is quite formal, then I revisited the bridesmaids dress lengths. I decided with a formal wedding gown and a Sunday evening Halloween day wedding I wanted my girls to be formal as well - - - Thus they are wearing floor length dresses
I'm a short dress kind of girl! I would prefer above the knee, but I couldn't find anything in my color above the knee for our beach wedding for a reasonable price.
We are black tie optional on a Sunday evening in August so I am going with a light silk material from coren moore in navy.
I am doing knee length for the girl's, since my wedding dress is tea length.
I was planning on long dresses, but my dress has a very simple silhouette, so I am now going with short dresses so they don't compete!
My wedding is formal, so the ladies will be in floor length dresses.
My girls have floor length, initially I wanted knee length, but the floor length seemed more formal which went much better with our venue.
Mine are knee length black. Different styles for each girl, and purchased through regular retail stores. Yay for cheap!
I wanted tea length and then after I bought my dress I opted for floor length. Maybe if you post a picture of your dress we can help.
Here's my dress.
Ceremony - Catholic Church
Reception - Beachfront Venue

I personally would say long dresses. Too funny, I just wore that bridesmaid gown in Chocolate in October.
I did short, to the knee. I hadn't really put much thought into it until a friend of mine made the suggestion. She told me to keep in mind what kind of dress I was wearing. My dress is really simple, so I didn't want my girls to be too formal. It just wouldn't go, in my mind. Also, I'm hoping we can do an outdoor ceremony so they won't be stuck in the heat with a long dress.
my MOH will be in a floor length dress, the other 3 BMs will be in knee length. :)

Just curious what the split is of those of you having long or short. I'm torn.
