Long or Short Dresses for Formal Wedding?

I'm having trouble deciding on dresses for my bridesmaids.

Here's a little background:  We're having a military wedding in July, and a reception at a country club.  The decor will be a good balance of the more formal decor of the country club with modern and rustic touches--I'm using a lot of text and fresh fruit along with florals.

So the question is, long or short dresses?  My top two dresses are the full length Two Birds convertible dress and a mix of shorter cocktail length dresses from Simple Silhouettes.

I personally think that the short dresses are just more practical and re-wearable. They can be totall dressy and formal too as long as you insist on heels and the girls all wear nice jewelry. Not to mention that my girls loved the mix and match dress option because they could all pick something they really loved.

YES I agree! I think it's best for short dresses so they can wear the dress again!!

I love long dresses!  My BMs will be wearing long dresses.  They look more classic to me.

I doubt my girls will rewear their dresses.  I don't know a single person who has ever reworn a BM dress--wether short, long, picked for them, or self picked.  So, just go with what YOU like and they feel comfortable in.

I like the length of the two birds dresses for your theme, they're formal but fun looking too.

Thanks for the help!  I'm still torn.  I think maybe I should just wait.  But I heard a rumor that there will be a bmaid dress sale on Gilt very soon, so I was hoping to just grab a couple dresses that I love.  Doesn't look like that's gonna work out for me.

I think the two birds dress would be the way to go. It looks more formal to me.
