HI everyone, I'm quite the lurker. THis is my very 1st post!

I got my dress some weeks ago and am trying to decide what veil to go with...cathedral or fingertip....my dress already has quite a long train as can be seen by pic #1....I was wearing a fingertip veil that's meant to go with the dress so what is being held up in the back is my train...not my veil.

If I go with the cathedral I'll take the plain cathedral

your dress is absolutely beautiful! it looks great! My personal opinion is that i dont like the veil that you had on in the pic. I would do a plain cath. veil.

    Good luck :)

Youre dress is really pretty!!! Whos the designer, love it! I would do cath. length. I think the dress is grand and should be paired with a long veil.

I would do a plain short (fingertip) veil. I think the long veils are just too much. I would be worried about catching it on something. I am a known klutz.

But I think the detail on the lace/applique part of your dress is absolutely stunning! Why would you want to draw the eye away from that?? I would stick with the simpler shorter veil so that everyone at the ceremony can see the awesome detail of that hot dress!

I think a simple fingertip length would be beautiful!

Thanks guys.....I was thinking of the plain cathedral veil but my family really likes the companion fingertip veil.

I agree with u whitesonnet....the beauty of the dress is really in the back as the train is really long and lovely and has the most fantastic working, I wouldnt like for a long veil to detract from that.

July112010, it is Oscar de la renta.

I think fingertip veil would work better with your dress.  Your train has such beautiful details already you don't want to make it more complicated  (the train and the veil would compete) or cover it up with a long veil.

I LOVE the second picture!  I usually prefer super plain veils, but that one is gorgeous and goes so well with your amazing dress

I agree with the other ladies and vote for plain.  While the companion veil is very pretty, it might be a little too matchy.

With such a gorgeous de la Renta, I'd do a plain veil... maybe fingertip? You don't want to take away from the dress!

I love the fingertip veil, and to disagree with the hive, the lace edge too!

Wow, beautiful dress! I would do a plain fingertip veil. You don't want to cover up and distract from that beautiful dress!

I would definitely go with the plain cathedral because there is so much detail on your dress already (which is super beautiful and looks gorgeous on you)!!!!!!

Ok I just found a pic of my dress online that shows the back properly.

    http://www.oscardelarenta.com/?folderId=/collections/bridal/spring2010/adcampaign/#pagewanted=0&

Unfortunately we took no pics of me from behind in the bridal salon :( Really regret that now.

I'm thinking fingertip plain now after seeing the model in that link that shows the train better.

I feel like I'm being super anal....but I'm just nervous as I have to place the veil order soon

I definitely vote for plain but I am not sure about fingertip versus cathedral. It depends on how long your aisle is...it just looks weird to me when I see brides with cathedral veils being married in these tiny venues b/c the veil looks out of place. If you are getting married outside or in a fairly large venue I would say cathedral...otherwise..go with the fingertip

Fingertip.  You want your dress to be shown off!
