I'm having a Fall wedding and love the look of knee length bridesmaid dresses. But I feel like I should have long dresses for the fall.  What is more appropriate or does it really matter these days, thoughts?

I don't think it matters AT ALL anymore! I've seen long and short dresses in all seasons

I think it's less the season that matters than the overall style and formality of your wedding. I prefer knee-length dresses as well :)

Agree. Even though it will likely be cold for my wedding, I picked short, because who re-wears a long dress! You can do whatever you like!  Just pick a more substantial fabric (ie not cotton)

I"m having a fall wedding too and my bridesmaids are all wearing knee length dresses.  And it really doesn't matter anymore.  It's really what you want...any time of year!  :o)

I agree with the above posters in that it doesn't really matter these days anymore. My preference is long dresses, but it completely depends on your style and the fomality of your wedding as well. I love knee length or tea lenght dresses too, but my personal preference is floor length.

It's your wedding- do what you want :) If you like the look of knee-length dresses, go with it.

Yeah it's not the season. It normally depends on if your weeding will be formal (long), less formal (tea length), or casual (short). But go with what you feel :)

I went to a fall wedding this past October and the bridesmaid wore knee length dresses. The wedding was very formal and the dresses looked like the went. Just go with what you prefer most for your wedding.

i don't think it matters at all! just cater your colors to coordinate with the fall theme... i'm getting married in september and have long BM dresses... but they're BUTTERCUP YELLOW! (still a summer color)...

I agree with the above--dress lengths tend to relate more to the formality of the wedding and rather than the season of the wedding.  So, if your wedding is black tie, longer dresses are usually more appropriate.  I personally think short dresses/tea length can definitely still look formal enough for a wedding though!

Do what you want! Nowadays people are a lot more accepting of things like this so it's not an etiquette issue anymore.

I think the length of the dress is more based on formality than season.. The more formal weddings, long gowns are the preference. I presonally like the tea length dresses better, but then again, I'm have a semi-formal wedding.

I think that if you want shorter dresses you should go for it, it is a really great look, and because they are shorter I think they would be more likely to be re-worn.

I agree... it doesn't matter anymore. I was just in a wedding (jan. 30th) and we wore tea-length dresses. It was fine... we just didn't do many outdoor photos. Whatever you and your 'maids like is all that matters. :)

My girls are wearing short strapless red dresses for my December 18th wedding, and it's COLD here!  But it's not their style to wear long dresses, so they like them better.  They'll probably all have shawls to wear with it however.

I don't think that it matters. I went to a wedding in October and the BM's had short dresses for an outdoor wedding and it was really cute. My wedding dress is tea length so my girls dresses are going to be tea length or a little shorter.

Go for it! I'm 10-30 and we're doing tea-length dresses for my girls.
