- Wedding: May 2015 - The Patrick Henry Ballroom
I hope everyone is doing well! So, my two year engagement is finally in the “8 months” away range and it’s time to get busy! Right now I’m trying to decide between long vs. short bridesmaid dresses. I already have my wedding dress. It’s an ivory gown, with a lace overlay and an illusion neckline. I think the silhouette would best be described as a slight trumpet; basically it’s really fitted and then flares slightly at the bottom.
As far as the bridesmaid dresses go, I was originally thinking I would do short dresses because it’s a Spring wedding, however, short dresses don’t necessarily go with my theme. My theme is Pride and Prejudice and when I think Pride and Prejudice, I think long and flowing. My entire wedding is taking place inside a ballroom, and the bridal party pictures will also be inside, so I’m not too worried about my girls overheating in long chiffon dresses. My two main concerns for the long dresses arethat I’m worried that they may overshadow my dress because my dress’s flare is so slight and I’m having an afternoon wedding. I’m a pretty short bride and my groom isn’t much taller than me, so I can’t wear high heels to stand out. I guess what I’m saying is that most of the time when I see long bridesmaid dresses, the bride is either an A-line dress or a Princess dress. And as far as the time of the wedding goes, I normally think of long dresses being an evening wedding kind of thing. So my question for you all is simple: long or short? I am posting pics of the bridesmaid dresses I’m considering! Thank you so much! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
