I know it’s hard to wait for that phone call! However, the storm may have set their schedule back more than just 2 weeks. They may be doing some rebuilding/restructuring after everything, and hiring new people may be that last thing on their mind while they get everything organized again. I would give them another week or two before getting too disheartened!

Yes, I agree with PP. I know it’s frustrating and I would be going crazy if I was in your situation, but odds are they were not able to get back to normal as soon as they had hoped. I’m also in a Sandy affected region and there are many offices in my district that are still without internet/phone service. Fingers crossed that you hear good news soon!!
