Hey bees, just wondering for those who had long weekend weddings, what was the percent of your guest list that made it? Did you find it higher or lower because of the long weekend??? On one hand I think more people should be able to make it, and on the other I think maybe people are busy and have plans their long weekend and would not make it. Our wedding is the labour day weekend next year (Saturday August 30th is the wedding, the holiday is Monday September 2…not sure if you American bees have the same holiday or if it is called something else)
Anyone who has planned a long weekend wedding please let me know your thoughts 🙂

We had a labor day weekend wedding (the Sunday of the weekend 2 years ago) and had a fine turnout. We invited around 200 and had 154 show in the end. That was about the headcount we had hoped for! Definitely send out save the dates though. 🙂

I have seen brides over the years be pleased they chose long weekends, and bemoan that they chose long weekends. Your turnout is going to be based on “know your audience.” In my family, my nephew had a friday night wedding on Memorial Day weekend. He had a decent turnout and everyone was THRILLED they still had their 3 day weekend to do as they pleased.
Now, 4th of July? Even though that isn’t a technical 3 day weekend, I can tell you in my family you will have a very poor turnout. My DDs, their families and I do a camping trip that weekend, my DH has 2 brothers that always vacay that week, and so does my sister. NONE of us are changing our standing holiday plans for a wedding.
As long as your VIP’s can make it, that is what counts.
