    I'm currently on CD64 of my first cycle since going off BC. I haven't ovulated, and I haven't had a period. I called my doctor today because I'm starting to get worried. Things obviously aren't working like they should. The doctor can't see me for 3 weeks! I guess I'm just going to have to freak out quietly until then. Has anyone else had a cycle last this long? What caused it?

    @MrsMcGyro:  ohhh :( good luck. I am supposed to start TODAY on my first cycle off BCP. I will be so relieved when I get AF. I feel your pain!

    It took a year for my cycle to come back after going off birth control.

    I was on a normal 28 Day cycle, went on Tricyclin (sp?) for two years then stopped, it took 1 year to come back and I have had a 30-40 day cycle since then.

    @beekiss:  I was on Loestrin.  I was on some form of the pill for the past 10 years, but prior to that I remember my cycles being pretty normal.

    @Genuine513:  A year?? Oh no. Did your doctor eventually put you on anything to kickstart a period or did it happen naturally?

    It came back on its own, I wasn't TTC and I have heard that it can happen so I wasn't really concerned about it. But the BC really wasn't agreeing with me which is why I stopped taking it.

    @MrsMcGyro: I have no other suggestions only that you're doing the right thing by setting up an appointment.  I heard Depo Provera takes a long time to come off of.

    the first time I went of BCP I took two months for me to get my period. I wasn't TTC then and ended up going back on BCP for another 5 years.  This time when I went off BCP in August, it only took 37 days to return. I was ursing a different BCP,  so maybe that was the difference. Don't worry too much. It all takes time for your body to get readjusted to having to regulate itself.

    Day 95 here and still waiting . . .   I should head to the doctor soon.

    It sucks, doesn't it?  I used to have regular  29-day cycles before the pill.  I don't know if it's just a matter of coming off the pill, or something else, or a combination of the two.  I'm beginning to suspect hypothalamic amenorrhea.  I'm a healthy weight, but low body fat because I work out often, and my job is really stressful.  PCOS is also often the culprit when you don't get your cycles back after going off the pill, but the other symptoms (acne, body hair, overweight, etc.) don't fit me at all.

    I've begun to hate birth control pills.  Even if they don't cause problems directly, they can mask underlying issues.

    @bluegreenjean:  Agreed x 1000. I wish I hadn't relied on them for so long.

    BC broke the back of my PCOS wide open, so after I went off of it, I didn't have a natural period for nearly 18 months.  Then I got pregnant on that first cycle, miscarried, and I'm back to not having a clue what my cycles are doing.  *sigh*

    I really really wish that I'd never gone on bc and I totally agree that it masks the problems that might be there and at time exacerbates them.  I'm glad I know about the pcos, insulin resistance, etc, but boy do I ever wish I'd never heard of bc.

    I was on Loestrin too and it took me a FULL 3 months (actually a little longer) to get a single period. I think it was something like 98 days. It was awful, I was sure I had ruined my body from the pill. I was just about to go to the doctor when it finally came. They had said to wait until it was 3 months and then call and make an appointment. When I did finally get it back, it didn't really regulate quickly either... cycles definitely ranged from like 35 days - 50 days. Stress turned out to affect my cycle length by a LOT. I started charting after my 2nd cycle (so like 4-5 months off the pill) though and that really helped me figure out what was going on with my body. And, we started TTC for the first time exactly 12 months after I stopped the pill, and despite the irregularity, we got pregnant on the first try. So don't give up hope yet!

    I will agree though, I hate hormonal bc after that experience. I won't be going back on the pill or any form of hormonal bc until after I'm done having children.

    Hi there - I have some insight on my story for you. My first cycle off of BCP was 47 days long, and then the next cycle after that was 35. I am now on a 27 day cycle... things do get better! Try not to panic!
