A few weeks ago, I went through some drama with an etsy seller, which I ranted about in this thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/my-first-etsy-burn
I decided to make my own bracelet, and here are the results! I think it came out absolutely perfect! I wanted the bracelet to match the detachable strap to my dress, and I can't imagine it matching better.
I started with a bunch of loose gems I bought off of etsy. (I probably ended up spending more than the stupid bracelet cost through the crappy stupid seller.) I used a plain, unfinished brass cuff. First, I tried soldering the gems onto the bracelet. That was far beyond my expertise.
So I went to the craft store and found some glue made for gluing metal to metal. It's still drying... so hopefully all the gems don't fall off tomorrow.
Here is the strap to my dress:

And here is the bracelet I made!

That's amazing!! I wish I could have picked all of your poll options lol. It matches your strap perfectly! Hope the glue sticks well!
Looks great! And soldering that would have been a nightmare. I used to do metal smithing.
You want to make my jewelry lol! It looks fantastic, if I didn't know better I'd think you bought both together.
Wow you have mad skills! I think you found your new calling.... You could totally sell them! Great job
Wow, that's perfect! To heck with that seller, you should open your own Etsy shop!
It looks amazing! Way to take charge and DIY a killer accessory. I'm impressed.
Also, I'd like to vote for all the poll options, not just one.
Thank you so much, everyone! I can't believe I got this many comments!!
I would love to make more and sell them, but it was SO expensive to make. I spent over $100 on materials! Maybe if I could find the crystals wholesale, but I searched and searched and they are not easy to find!
For anyone who is wondering, I used "Tigerbond" metal glue from Joanne Fabrics. The gems seem to be holding sturdy this morning. I think that as long as I don't drop it, it will be just fine.
It looks fantastic, even better than the original one you wanted. You should consider (when things aren't so busy with a wedding lol) opening an Etsy store with these bracelets :)
@Miss Otter: Thanks! I don't know if it's "better" but it certainly is a better match for my purposes.
@Lyndzo: I thought of that, but I would have to find a place to get the gems wholesale. I spent over $100 on the materials to make this one bracelet, so I don't know how much business I could really do on etsy. It would be a huge capital investment just to buy enough to get started!
(Side-by-Side Comparison)
I was going to buy this:

But I ended up making this myself:

It's very pretty ! Way to go girl ! I wish I was this crafty ! :-D
