Thanks!! That is so cool, I wish we needed a coffee table now! I may just make it for the hell of it, if I can find somewhere to put it 
I imagine you could also take the wheels of the bottom and put foam and fabric on the top and make an ottoman/footstool
@ignatiangal: we have an ottoman in our living room, but needed a coffee table, without room for both. So, we went to Home Depot and got a nice piece of sanded wood plank, and stained it and now it sits on top of the ottoman. It was a perfect and cheap solution!
@MrsDibs: Ummm... I may totally do this. Just pinned it. I work in construction and we always have these cable spools lying around. I will be needing a coffee table soon, so this is awesome and cheap! Great job!

I am so proud of this DIY project I couldn't help but toot my own horn (and DH too) a little.
I found a table like this on Pinterest and I just had to do it! I love it!
