Who IS this woman? How dare she say to a customer that her fingers are too small for anything to look good?! What a crock.
Don't listen to her, she sounds just hateful for no reason. You'll find something perfect, and I think a simple band with a marquise sounds lovely! What I do think you should do is find another shop, where the salespeople treat you well!
well that women has to be the worst salesperson ever. I'm sure it looks fine! I'd go somewhere else...anywhere else.
Don't listen to the crazy lady! My engagement ring is single stone marquis too, it's tanzanite, and I tried on my friend's plain white gold band with it and it looked great, the bottom end of the stone just sat on nicely on top of the band... that's probably what I'll go for. Try another shop and I bet you'll leave happier
I think you need to go to a different jewelry store. Don't listen to that lady. She obviously doesn't know what she is talking about.
Who cares what she thinks! If you like it, then just go for it. She definitely has no idea how to treat a customer so she probably has no idea what looks good either.
wow she seriously said that? I have a ring size of 4.5 & the only thing I was told about my small finger size is that they don't carry anything in my size & it would have to be ordered. If you liked that ring, I would either go back & only speak with a different employee or find a new shop. I doubt the owner of the company knows how that employee is treating customers... I may write a small letter to the owner just to let him know, if you want.
The other ladies are right, don't listen to that woman its boloney. Marquee diamonds are lovely and there are lots of wedding bands that would work. You may have to look into having one made to fit your setting and ring size like a wrap or something but it can be done. Don't let her bum you out.
I have a marquise - very similar to yours.
I love it but it's sooo hard to find something that matches. I'm so frustrated - I feel like nothing matches it (and I don't like the notched bands). I found something I liked online but no one locally carries it.
I don't want to get it reset because I wanted to keep it as my FI gave it to me but I'm thinking of getting it reset and having my band from my e-ring made into my wedding band.
No help here - but I feel your pain!

Thanks so much everyone for your posts. After reading them I do feel better. I know the women was being paid on commission so she was trying to sell me a much more expensive ring and being hurtful in the process.
I would not listen to that lady it does not matter what anyone thinks but you as long as your happy that is the important thing and i have never heard that before i am sure your set will look very pretty no matter what you decide. I would def go to a diffrent sales person if not whole new store and maybe make a complint because i am sure that laidies boss would be very interested to find out she is insulting the customer. She is just jelous of your ring so get the ring you love not what someone else says and congrats to your up coming wedding
That lady is terrible at her job. Go with what YOU want. Don't listen to that strange lady!
Pfff - if I were you I would take my business elsewhere! Wear whatever ring YOU love and whatever makes YOU happy!
Sometimes sales people just suck. My FI and I went to look at bands this past weekend and the sales lady was so rude and had no idea what she was doing. First she made us feel bad because my ring is platinum (we are having a hard time finding platinum in the stores). She made us feel kind of guilty for having it and even asked what FI does for a living. My ring isnt even that big so I don't know where she was coming from. Then she didnt even know the difference between an asscher and a princess. I mean don't they train these people.
I say keep looking around and don't let a sales person talk you in or out of something. Get what makes you happy regardless of what anyone else thinks.
Who cares what she thinks! What did you think? Ultimately you're not going to make her wear the two rings together so she should keep her judgements to herself. Especially if she's a sales rep!
First of all I would file a complaint with the manager as that lady has no right telling you that. Second of all I did some searching online just to show you alot of things are beautiful with a marquise.

Today I went to just look at wedding bands. My engagement ring is a single stone marquis and i love it. When I went to look at wedding bands I fell in love with a smiple white gold band with just a few diamons in the band. The woman who was helping me try them on said the one i liked would never look good with a marquis stone. Then she went on to tell me my fingers are small so it would be hard to find anything that would look good on them. She found one that she said would look ok on me and I hated it. So now i just feel sad about the whole thing. Would a smiple band really look that bad with a marquis? Does anyone know what bands would look ok with a single stone marquis?
