Can you proivde a little more as to what you are looking for? Type of venue (hotel, winery, country club, outdoors, restaurant, etc.? Where in Nor Cal or how far you are willing to look? Budget? That would help local bees to be able to make better suggestions.
Open to any venue. Prefer a indoor reception. We are located in Palo alto, but are willing to go anywhere within a 2 hours distance: North bay, south bay, and peninsula. Ideally we would like to spend a total of 20k for about 220 guest.
We had our reception at the HS Lordships on the Berkeley Marina. It was a perfect night and we had the entire SF skyline as our backdrop. We ended up with about 240 guests and had a ton of room for the dance floor.
I was the MOH for my friend's wedding... she had it at Villa Ragusa in Campbell...best part of it was that a lot of things was included in the "per head" price. I believe that I have the price quotes from 2010 if your'e curious to see what's included. :)
DH and I got married in a small ceremony at HMB Ritz Golf Course but had our reception at Yank Sing in SF. Their prices are reasonable!
@Mz.Escalante: We are getting married at the Grand Island Mansion (www.grandislandmansion.com) and it is beyond affordable and gorgeous. It is located in the delta region close to Sacramento.
We are getting married at the Forest House Lodge in Foresthill (near Auburn). We found the SF and greater bay area prices to be pretty high overall. I can't say enough good stuff about the FHL! Each time I interact visit the venue or interact with the staff I fall more in love with it! I would definitely recommend checking it out. It is a little farther out, but well worth it.
A friend is getting married at the Inn Marin in Novato and said it is fairly affordable.
I didn't look much in the south bay, but we were looking to stay at about $20k, and FHL provided the best bang for our buck. Many of the Sacramento venues were a great deal. I would recommend expanding your search a little farther north to stretch your dollar.
In SF, the Presidio Venues were the most affordable. The Golden Gate Club was our second choice and is very beautiful.
My cousin had her ceremony at Rengstorff House and her rececption at Michaels at Shoreline. I don't know what the per person costs were but I believe they were pretty affordable. Rengstorff House was really affordable. Hope that helps!
Also might want to check out Freedom Hall & Garden's in Santa Clara http://www.freedomhall.com/packages_pricing.htm
Maybe Scott's Garden in Walnut Creek?
Also, Michael's at Shoreline is in Mountain View, the website definitely needs some help but I have been to 2 weddings and 2 babyshowers there and it is a pretty easy venue to work with.
There's lots of beautiful venues in the Santa Cruz mountains. Try looking there.
The Brazilian Room in Berkeley is a beautiful and very popular place for weddings. It's relatively cheap because it's nonprofit. Most people do an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception there.
check out the unity center in san anselmo. It has an indoor area, and pretty affordable, with and outdoor space for wedding or cocktails.
They are very organised and have 'packages' with several caterers and photographers and florists, so you really get a better deal.
