@janet61: I'm in Calgary too! What is your budget? What sort of style do you like?
Dolly Couture has some lovely silhouettes that look fantastic on plus sizes.
Something like this:

And lace is bridal while still being sophisticated

This one is only $499 on David's Bridal.com. They have free shipping right now too! I dk if that counts for Canada, but it might. I think it's GORGEOUS. It is offered in Ivory.

Also, I love this one and the empire waist and design would make it pretty univerally figure flattering. You could just add a bolero to it, and ta-da. :) It is on sale for $249 US, and is normally like $500-something.

@eagle: Cool! Another Calgarian! I would really not want to pay over $200-$250 but would like a nice dress.
Kala - love the third dress - where are they from and do you know prices? The lace is wonderful - not sure about the waist belt thingy but love all the lace!!!
Amelia - love both dresses
Again - not sure on price, but would really like something with lace, has to have sleeves (no chance of sleeveless here!), 3/4 length, aroun $200/$250
Oh - and I am only 5'2 so needs to be okay with someone short
And I guess ageappropriate. Still not sure what I will wear in my hair - which is very short.
Thank you for your responses!!! This is the most help I have received anywhere!

Nataya makes vintage inspired wedding dresses in plus size that are in your budget. Google for several sources.
@janet61: The two salons I'd recommend are Bridal Fashion Group - they had a TON of dresses. And also Mena's Bridal Salon.... lots of dresses too. But going online for David's Bridal, or getting a replica dress made thru Jasmines Bridal Shop or Dressilyme could help keep the budget down too.
Calgary dress shops were expensive. I was looking at mainly lace dresses and they were all over 2500.
I went to check Nordstrom (I think they ship to Canada) as they seem to have lots of cute plus sized dresses but not really in white/ivory.
This one is only $100 and meets your sleeve requiremnt while looking very age appropriate and flattering but it is a bit longer than you would like http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/js-boutique-beaded-chiffon-gown-plus/3207791?origin=category&resultback=3375
@eagle: thank you so much!
@slicey19: Wow ...price is amazing! Thanks!!
Wow, these bees are really coming through. I hope you find a great option!
@zdb: The dress is gorgeous! Unfortunately my upper arms are ... well...shall we say, not flattering for this type of dress lol! But thank you!!!
@janet61: The lace dress that kala posted about is from www.kiyonna.com and it is $242. I just ordered it (I'm 37, so an older bride too). I found a 25% off promo code and it came out to just under $200. I should get it this week. :)
