I am working with Carl Alan. I think my budget was pretty average. I showed him a bunch of pics and he worked to make my style fit my budget.  I sent him pictures I liked and told him my budget.  At our appointment he ordered a ton of flowers and made a bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquet, and high/low centerpiece (this way you know exactly how big your boquet etc will be). They made them up exactly as they will look on the wedding day! they did most of the designing but if there was something I didnt like they were more than happy to change it around. Highly recommend!

i had a consultation with another florist who basically just send me a propsal with pics of random flowers she was going to use.. while I liked the flowers she chose I really had no idea how big everything would be and if I would really like the finished product.

I don’t have anyone in Philly, but I have someone in Delco which is still close. Marcus Hook Florist. 938 Market Street, Marcus Hook, PA 19061. Phone is (610) 485-3281 . We were on a strict budget, and they worked with us. The bouquets are substantial and GORGEOUS. I was able to get my bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 2 mothers corsages, and 7 boutonnieres for $600. It costs nothing to set up a meeting with them, and they have tons of books you can go through if you don’t have ideas. Here are pics of my flowers so you can see….

Loretta at Amaranth in Narberth, She goes all over the Philly area and not only are her prices AMAZING, her work is so beautiful. I didn’t really have a vision, but my FI and I sat with her and were able to point out and say what we didn’t want, from that she whipped up the most amazing centerpieces which were exactly what we wanted!

I used Flowers by Mary Elizabeth – we got my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, 3 boutineres and 2 corsages for about $350.  Mary was great to work with – I told her what I liked, then sent her a picture of what I wanted.  I got exactly what I wanted and better – and the flowers were still alive 3 d later!

So far, I’ve liked Russell Anthony from Northeast Phila.  His phone is 215-676-0707.  His prices are reasonable and his work is very nice.  He’ll also do some mock-ups without making you first commit to a contract.

@Soon2BMrsP818: i’m using Christine from A Modern Touch (my wedding is in April) – i told her what my budget was and she’s doing wonders with it.  while my wedding isn’t until april, she did a wedding for a friend of mine as well who was on a budget and it looked great.

she has a studio in the art museum area and she’ll sit down with you talk about what you like and prepare a little presentation for you. i really like actually seeing her ideas in real life as opposed to pictures of flowers.

this is her website http://amoderntouch.com/

best of luck!

I also just booked with Christine at a Modern Touch!  We actually first heard about her because she provides the centerpieces included in the packages at Plymouth Country Club.  We ended up deciding on a different venue, but we liked the centerpiece pictures they showed us and we assumed that her prices must be somewhat reasonable in order for them to be able to use her.  She commented that our budget is lower than than most weddings that she does but that she was happy to work with us.  Her personality was great and she wasn’t at all stuck up or snooty regarding our budget.  She really understood the look I was going for and had great ideas.  Actually, one of the “inspiration” magazine pictures I brought in was from one of her brides (unbeknownst to me at the time I cut it out!).  Ultimately, she put together a package to meet our budget and we’re excited to work with her.  Although she’s a small business owner who works out of her home, the fact that she is the designated florist for Plymouth CC gave me an added level of confidence in the absence of many online reviews.

I plan on booking with Sullivan Owen Floral and Event Design. While I am planning on spending alot of my money on flowers…they are SOOOO important to me… I think they have impecible taste and are incredibly nice anbd creative. I’m not sure if they have a minimum budget to work with. Definetly something different in the Philly area.

Soon2BMrsP818 – If you don’t mind me asking, who did you end up going with?  I had a referral for Riehs Florists also and then they never called me back and I was a little put-off so didn’t use them.  I heard they’re cheap and great though.

I know the original poster already found her florist but I thought I’d contribute another suggestion to the Philly Brides. I haven’t worked with them yet, but I heard that London Flowers in Philadelphia does great work at incredibly affordable rates. They don’t have a website or anything and apparently appear a bit rough around the edges, but put great work together at prices that can’t be beat. I’ll post back again when I talk to them though.
