Would RI be too far? There are some great places there that are cheaper than Boston. NH, too. I don't know anything about the cost of the DeCordova Museum, but I've been to gorgeous weddings there.
You can try the Elm Bank Horticulture Center its in Wellesley..not too far from Boston. Perhaps see if you can get a permit to have your wedding in Boston Commons...I think it's inexpensive.
Good Luck!

Hi there...ideas/advice/info needed for a laid-back,fun, outdoorsy couple looking for a place just to have big, informal kick-ass party for their wedding and not spend a crapload of money... =)
Wondering if anyone knew of some great reception sites or venues (that could possibly do a ceremony as well) that are close to or in Boston, and that are actually affordable!
Ideally, we'd be able to bring our own booze and own caterer (we have one in the family). We'd love to do something in a beautiful, natural setting. My fiance and I are teachers, and needless to say, on a pretty small budget, and we're having a big wedding (we both have huge families...) so this is quite the challenge! Anything helps! Thanks!
