I went to a wedding in Vegas a couple years ago. It was super small (maybe 15 people?) and they had the ceremony on a balcony of the Bellagio overlooking the gorgeous fountains. They made reservations at a fancy restaurant, I want to say at the Venetian, and treated us all to an expensive dinner and drinks. There was no dancing or music, but it was very nice! They ended up doing a reception later when they got back to PA.

Here's the balcony.

And here's the view of the fountains. They went off right after they said their vows. It was gorgeous.
so pretty - thanks for the pics!
i don't know if bellagio is in our budget - I just assumed it wasn't but I guess I should look first huh?
Ya know, I have absolutely no idea how much it cost. But it can't hurt to find out.
my husband also wants an elvis to be there which i think is kind of fun actually but we thought it would be really fun to have our wedding at a very elegant venue and then suprise everyone with elvis!
i was going to suggest the Wynn hotel for luxury and lavishness but i just read that Bellagio isn't in your budget so Wynn won't be either. What's your theme going to be? This will help out those who can help you since each hotel has its own theme. i saw a wedding at the Flamingo about a decade ago and it was awesome the pictures they were taking in the gardens but i haven't been to Flamingo in about five years soooo i don't know how it is now. also i noticed you haven't put a date down. For a Vegas wedding, i would suggest having a wedding the weekend after a major vacation holiday (like the weekend after memorial day or fourth of july or labor day) so you can get the best prices and the least crowds.
My husband and I eloped in Las Vegas. We got married at a little chapel then went back to our hotel {Bellagio} for dinner and drinks. We had our families with us, so there was 10 of us all together. It was very nice.
How many people are you thinking?
Hi bees,
So I actually looked and there are packages at the Bellagio we can afford - but we want it to be a bit Vegas-y - like we want an Elvis impersonator at the wedding! Yes tacky I know but that's kinda the idea. We want it to be like a big party and a little retro cool - we're not really going for classic elegance - think more hipsters get married - not that we are hipsters but that's the idea. Does that make sense?
I'd like to have the reception in a cool, hip restaurant - no ballrooms or anything. I know you guys probably think that's tacky but that's kind of the idea - as long as we're doing vegas we want a little touch of classic Vegas stuff!
The thing is, we thought it would be cooler to get married at a nicer place and have an Elvis impersonator there as a suprise rather than go to one of those chapels - this is why I orig thought of Mandalay Bay as they have a package where you can have Elvis sing 3 songs at your ceremony but its still in a nice location.
I looked at the Flamingo and the Luxor as well but I read neg reviews of Flamingo (which I love b/c its so old) and the Luxor chapel doesn't look very nice from the website.
I think you're going to have a hard time finding a nice hotel with Elvis, etc. Are you sure you don't want to do a kitchsy chapel ceremony then back to one of the great hotel restaurants or bars for the reception? That is much more "hipster" to me then just having Elvis at one of the hotels.
Have you looked at the Palms or Planet Hollywood? Or the Encore, which is a Wynn property?
You have a point KateMW - that was our original plan so maybe we should stick to it. Maybe Elvis will look a little strange at the Mandalay Bay chapel in a sleek minimalist setting.
I'm a little worried that my FIs parents might be upset but he's not concerned - they are huge Elvis lovers and we are actually already married in a civil ceremony so they can't really get too upset I don't think. We're paying for the whole thing anyway.
The Palms is my favorite hotel in Vegas so maybe that would be really cool to have the reception there. Great ideas!
hi! we're getting hitched here (it's not on the strip...it's downtown, but it sure looks nice and everyone i've talked to has been so friendly)! so far the plan is to do a lunch* at wolf gang puck's bar and grill. they have private dining options, with a kick-ass hip atmosphere, and our guest list is in the 40-50 ppl range for now. the restaurant isn't set in stone yet, but i may start my own thread for suggestions. anywho, we're going for the "dream" package at the chapel which will include limo to and from our hotel, my bouquet, his boutonniere, some photos, an internet brodcast of the ceremony, use of a bridal suite to dress in, and a few other things for about $500!
*the reason we've decided on a lunch is that we're getting hitched on 10/10/10 at 10am....at first we were doing the deed at 5:30, but since 10/10/10 is a sunday, we figured it would be more accomidating to our guests that may need to be back to work/school on monday if we had our festivities in the earlier part of the day for the sake of their travel/real life needs. plus, this means i get the spend a WHOLE DAY in my kick-ass dress ;-)
keep us posted on your plans! as a fellow vegas bride, i'd love to bounce ideas off eachother!
bellamargot, that place looks great! i was also looking at the graceland wedding chapel. sounds like you and i are on the same page. wolfgang puck's is great too!!
When my sister and I were in Vegas last year, we saw a few weddings at the Flamingo, where we were staying. One wedding was in the gardens and the reception was at the pool. The other one I think was in the gardens and the reception was at Margaritaville, which is inside the Flamingo. If you're looking for sort of an offbeat thing, Margaritaville could be fun!
what about the Voodoo lounge on top of the rio? i think that place is just what you're looking for :)
BEAV!!!! That looks like it could be the spot!!!! wowww - off to investigate!!!
My sis and bil want to do a vow renewal in Vegas! We're originally from memphis and they want an elegant one and saw in one wedding mag where the couple tied the knot sitting in a vintage car and Elvis married them!
Then have a black and pink reception (very small just for a few couples and Elvis' favorite colors) after at a restaurant.
that roof is awesome! I do love that. I'd have an aisle lined with varying height vases filled with water and some submurged orchids with floating candles on top. Nothing else but the lights of vegas surrounding you below!
Pink and black are elvis' favorite colors? I did not know that!! How cool!!! I may have to incorporate that somehow!!! Thanks!
I wonder if they would let us actually have a reception on that roof actually. Beav, I know you probably meant that for the reception but that roof is awesome.
I haven't seen any weddings in Vegas, but last summer I stayed at the Mirage and it was great. It's a super nice hotel and I loved it!
the voodoo lounge up there also has an indoor lounge and a full resturant.. why not get married on the deck too?? it would be totally gorgeous! imagine walking down that staircase to your fiance waiting for you.... **swoon**
i hope it works out for you! if you need other ideas, let me know :)
We got married at Mandalay Bay last June and loved it! We stayed pretty traditional and did not have Elvis, but we loved the chapel and we thought the package prices were reasonable. We also love the rooms in the hotel.
I meant to add...let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to share my experiences with you.
We're getting married October 31st at the place that Bellamargot posted a link to. I'm sure I'll be stalking the hive boards afterwards, so feel free to ask me questions. We are doing pictures after the ceremony with an awesome photog, and I'm getting my makeup and hair done in our room before the wedding. I'm so excited to get married in Vegas, so fun!!
We're getting married at the Aquarium in Mandalay Bay. It has to be at nine a.m., before it opens to the public, so I'm trying to figure out the logistics of how/when to have the reception and when to fit in pictures. I'm thinking about a brunch/lunch reception, then a break for pictures, then everyone meets up later in the evening for a traditionally 'Vegas' show and parties and the like. FI completely thinks I'm crazy for stressing over where we're going to eat and celebrate afterwards more than anything else, but food is such an important part of his culture and it will be the first time that the important people in our life will be together.
Hi everyone - this is an oldish thread of mine but I am glad to see there are more Vegas brides! I actually ended up choosing something totally different than I had orgininally had in mind - an off strip venue.
Our wedding will be at Springs Preserve which is just beautiful - we actually just returned from Vegas and visited it and I'm so happy with my choice. Wolfgang Puck catering does the food and it comes with a wedding coordinatior. For any Vegas brides looking I highly recommend it and feel free to PM me with questions.
@fizzycolors - I stayed at TheHotel at Mandalay Bay and that aquarium is awesome!! There are plenty of great restaurants in MB for a reception too - and if you are doing lunch/brunch you can possibly do something super high end for less money than you would think - Mix, Aureole, Fleur de Lys, Strip Steak and Lupo all have group dining options. Lupo is prob. the cheapest but so good and beautiful inside. I have all of the group dining menus if you'd like them just PM me.

Hi Vegas bees,
I haven't posted about this elsewhere on the boards yet but we're thinking of having our wedding closer to home in Vegas (was orginally planned for my FIs home town in New Zealand).
Any suggestions for a ceremony and reception venue in Vegas? We'd like the strip and we want to fun party atmosphere (can be elegant yes, but Elvis, neon lights, etc are all more than welcome). Any ideas?
The only think we don't want is a ballroom reception, would prefer a funky restaurant or lounge. Mandalay Bay looks like a good option - any others??
