Im using Justine Johnson! She is super nice and great prices!
Our photographer is Michele Stapleton. She's based in Brunswick, and I know she travels.
Bernard C Meyers is also very talented. He's in Portland and willing to travel, as well!
I think I would suggest that you start with Maine-based photographers as those in Boston would probably charge quite a bit to travel up to MDI - if your username indicates that's where the wedding will be!
Here is a list of photographers in Maine who are members of the Wedding Photojournalist Association. http://www.wpja.com/wedding-photographers/maine-photojournalist.htm
@emmalina:thanks for the link...I'll work my way through them this afternoon. Decisions, decisions. I was thinking the same thing about asking Boston based people to travel up to MDI.
I second Justine Johnson, she is amazing. We used her for e-photos two weeks ago and I moved my wedding date ahead two days in order to accomdate her schedule. She is laid back. Very kind. Makes the process as comfortable and natural as being photographed is, at least for us. I am getting the disk in the mail this week. I have attached the teaser she sent the SAME day of our shoot. It became obvious once we saw the proofs that I ruined nearly every picture laughing at FI.
We are using two photographers which are both friends of my family. http://www.zedarean.com/zedarean/Welcome.html He takes amazing pictures, is excellently priced and will do what you want.
@emmalina: My FI's sister and brother actually had Bernard take pictures for their weddings, and he did an ok job for his sister's wedding. But for his brother's that was in 2008 he did a horrible job, they were only given one picture of the bride and groom together at the wedding. Then on one of the few of them together from the reception he photoedited a picture of them and made the groom look horrible.
Our photographer is Karen Goldstein of Blush Photo in natick. Her pictures on her website are amazing! check her out and ask if she'll travel.
We're using Samantha Warren of Samantha Warren Weddings. We were extremely happy with our e-pics, and we can't wait to see what she does with our wedding in two weeks! And she's SUPER nice on top of it all!
the best ive ever seen is Zev Fisher www.zevfisher.com
Andy Sussman, Managing Director, TSG Weddings, Boston Wedding DJs & Lighting http://www.tsgweddings.com
We fell in love with Emilie Sommer (www.emilieinc.com) but she was out of our price range. We ended up going with Steven Fairfield (www.stevenfairfieldphotography.com) and are looking forward to him shooting our wedding.
I just contracted with Classic Photography, the company is based out of Boston but they have offices throughout New England. I am actually going through the Auburn, ME location. The prices could not be beat, and they have a variety of photographers to choose from. I chose Jim to do my photography on 9.10.11 and will be having my engagement pictures done shortly. The major perk of using Classic Photography is that they are also associated with tuxedo rental, and if you book a photography package, you get a significant discount on tuxedo rental.
We used Alexandra Daley-Clark (classicmaineweddings.com) and she is amazing.
Very easy to work with, very responsive and the photos speak for themselves.
She only does a limited number of weddings per year (15 I think?), and she was just featured a couple of months ago as the featured wedding in the NYT Sunday featured wedding section, so I imagine she will book up fast for next summer – her contact info is on her website.
Here’s a couple shots from our 08/28 wedding on Peaks Island:

And a couple from our e-pics:

We used Greg L. Strom and were very pleased. His prices were reasonable, he stayed for as many hours as we wanted without any price change, and he took over 1400 photos! It was great!
I'm using Jen from Aphrodite. We met with her and it gelled right away. She is in Portsmouth
We're using Michelle from MAC Photography. She's phenomenal! She's located in Portsmouth, which is a really convenient area for the Boston Maine bride (like me!)
We used Lisa Rigby Photography (www.lisarigbyphotography.com) and she doesn't charge for travel for New England Weddings! We love love loved her (we are "Whitney and Phil" from her La Jolla/San Diego destination wedding this year).
HI Ladies,
We ended up with Brea McDonald (www.breamcdonald.com) and I'm obsessed. Ultimately it was her familiarity with shooting coastal weddings (fog & all) and the mix of landscape, portrait, and candid photography that sold us on her. Not to mention she is super sweet in person and her packages very competitively priced.
We also considered Alexandra Clark-Daley but she was unavailable for our dates.
Used Rachel Bell Photography. The pictures came out nice, but the customer service was pretty bad. I wouldnt reccomend her to other brides.

Hey Ladies,
I was wondering who you all were using for photographers? I've been following the Bee's who've had Northern New England Weddings and am trying to get a sense of who are photographers who are willing to travel to Maine (or work in Maine)
I am afraid if I start looking at Boston based photographers I am going to be overwhelmed with the choices...what are you all thinking? Staying local or looking further afield?
