As an engaged wedding photographer (also getting married Sept. 2012!), I think I can help.
Most brides want a high resolution disc of their images (which are edited). This is what I give my clients, since it gives you the right to post them online to share, make prints from, and even make your own album if you like. Some photographers charge per image, which is not what I'd recommend.
Also, wedding photography varies greatly in price, depending on skill/experience and time spent photographing, as well as what product you receive after the wedding. Some photographers include engagement photo sessions, wedding albums, prints, websites of your photos, etc. I'd say the Colorado area ranges from $1500-$6000 before adding on tons of extras, but most include engagement photos in many of their packages.

Here's mine, he has been so awesome and very good prices. He's in the springs but travels. I'm getting married at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and his travel charge is so reasonable.
I love our photographer - Sharon Arnoldi. She's in Highland's Ranch (our wedding is in Denver) We got our engagement pictures back and they are fabulous (and on her blog). Her prices/packages are very reasonable and she's absolutely professional.
We love our photographer too! Actually booked her first after our venue after seeing what she did at our friend's wedding. She charges about $2000 to start and that includes the disc of the pictures which was really important to us:

Hello everyone!
I'm getting married in September 2012 and I'm in the early stages of my wedding planning. right now I'm really interested in finding a photographer. But I'm not sure how much pics should cost or what i should be asking. Any help would be appreciated.
