I like the idea of having both moms light a candle at the start of the service which will later be used by the couple to light the unity candle. But...having been to SO many weddings and nearly all of them start this way, I am looking for a different way to signify a joining of the two families rather than having the mothers light a candle. Any ideas?? The cermeony will be a fairly traditional Catholic ceremony (without a Mass).
