Please help!!! I am hoping to find a videographer for my upcoming wedding and I’m starting to get so discouraged. Everyone that I’ve looked at is over $1,500 for 4 hours and some even more than $5,000. I really want to have a video since I won’t get to see the majority of the ceremony, but I hoping to spend under $1,000. Does anyone know of a good videographer (or even at decent one) in this price range?

Welcome to the bee!!
I can’t remember the name of the videographer we hired, but we did a lot of negotiations, and since somewhere in the budget we saved money, we ended up splurging on the videographer and I think we’re paying $1200 for everything videography-related.
We thought about renting cameras from Wedit – you could ask friends or family hold the video cameras, and let Wedit edit the footage for you. We also originally thought about asking a pro videographer to just shoot footage, and my Fiance would edit the footage – but he got lazy, and that’s why we are winding up paying for the full package. But I think probably the cheapest way to go is to look into hiring a student.
I don’t know much about hiring student videographers, but I emailed both UH and Rice for music school students, and we hired 4 Rice music grad students to play in a string quartet for the ceremony. It was a really easy process, and I’d imagine if you contact the art departments at both schools (or even one of Houston’s smaller colleges or technical colleges!) you will find someone who will video your wedding on a budget.
