I live in southern Michigan and my mother lives in Ohio. We’re planning to start wedding gown shopping together soon. Can anyone recommend a really great bridal shop? Anywhere in either state that has a large selection is fine. She’s suggested going to Bridal and Formal in Cincinnati, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about them.

In the Cleveland area (that’s where I’m from), try Catan’s in Strongsville (southwest side, not too far off the turnpike). This place is a zoo on weekends, so if you can do a weekday, that might be better.
My BM dresses came from Galleria Gowns in Willoughby Hills (east side, right off of I-90). It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but they have a good selection. I can’t say enough good things about their customer service.
If you are looking for higher end dresses, try Matina’s in Beachwood or Brides by the Falls in Chagrin Falls. Both east side
I have also heard good things about Dora’s in Fairview Park and the Perfect Bride in Rocky River. Both west side.

Beckers Bridal in Fowler, Michigan has a huge selection. Something crazy like 3000 dresses. I had a great experience there.

I Do Too! Bridal Boutique in Plymouth, MI was amazing. I also liked that their consultants did not work on commission: http://www.idotoobridal.com/
I would also suggest Gallippos in downtown Toledo, OH. They don’t have a website though.
And I have lots of friends who have gotten their gowns from various stores in the bridal district of Cincinnati: http://www.readingbridaldistrict.com/

Im not sure if I found this post too late, but the Bridal Salon I went to is in Shelby Township MI. Im sure it is a distance from you, but I bring it up because i can guarentee that no other bride has had as wonderful of an experiance as i did at Bella Rose Bridal. It is a family owned and family run boutique and EVERYONE there is sweet and honest. They have a nice varity and the gowns are TO DIE FOR! they also have a great selection of veils, hair pieces, shoes…. you name it! I delt with Michelle and she was AMAZING!!! Good luck!

I got my dress at Elizabeths in Northville, Laura was my bridal consultant and I loved her and the shop. It is in a cute little victorian home that is all white and gold decor on the inside…I felt like a princess.
I also had a good experience, but no dress buying, at Maria’s in West Bloomfield. She was quite nice and very helpful.
I did not have a good experience at Bridal Couture of Birmingham – I would recommend avoiding it.
