First - Congratulations! I got married at The Old State House downtown on October 10, and I can highly recommend our caterer. Check out Season To Taste. The owner, Robert Harris, was previously the catering manager at East Coast Grill, and he is awesome. Robert uses all seasonal, local produce, and he has a commitment to being a responsible caterer. That was really important to us. They did so much for us - from start to finish - that we didn't even need a wedding planner. They made exactly what we wanted, and it was fabulous, and they pulled it all off in a very tough venue (not many outlets, no kitchen, small space, a spiral staircase and no elevator, etc). And he is very reasonably priced. You also know what you're getting with him. He posts sample menus (with prices!) on his website, which I think is very rare.
From the time we met him, we knew he was going to be amazing. He had us over to his house for a tasting, which consisted of a four-course meal of our food WITH wine pairings. I really can't say enough about them. I can tell you that nearly all of our guests raved about the food and are still saying that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding.
I found that the biggest key to our successful wedding was choosing great vendors and keeping the guest list small. Robert helped make it a huge success. Here's the website:
Congratulations! Such a pretty spot. It was my top choice until I found out they don't do weddings on Sundays.
Re caterers: you might see if Green Olive can fit your budget. They aren't cheap, but they caterered a friend's wedding and she said the were fantastic and worked with her budget.
Congrats!!!
As for caterers, I would highly recommend Table of Contents, I think they are higher end but try to work with all budgets. My sister used them at her wedding and my mom's company uses them for all company events. They are amazing.
I've also worked with Carrie from Baker's Best in Newton. She'll work with any budget and any menu. They have an amazing test kitchen. We use them at my firm. I love working with Carrie, she's creative and very budget concious and their food is amazing. She also does a lot of event planning and helps to find venues and other venues. She may be worth talking to before you hire a caterer and an event planner.
congratulations!
i've been following Pink Orchid Weddings, a boston based wedding coordinating duo!

they could be a great resource to you!

I've been to a wedding catered by Tasting's Caterers and really loved the food there. http://www.tastingscaterers.com/

We used Pink Orchid Weddings (mentioned above) as our DOC and they were fabulous!
How funny! Robert from Season to Taste would be my first choice as well! He's perfect for brides and grooms who are creating a very specific menu and don't want to pick off a list. He's full of suggestions and all of his food is amazingly tasty. The staff if also fabulous and helped me develop my signature cocktails at my Wedding last year.
I would love to help out and your fabulous venue, but I am already booked that day!
:-( but call Robert!!! You won't regret it!
Good luck!
Robet from Season to Taste is so fabulous!! His pricing is not too bad (I compared to about 10 other local caterers), and the quality of food is to die for! :) Good luck!
I'm getting married in Ipswich this August and we just decided on our caterer after researching and tasting about 10 different caterers. We attended an event at our site a few weeks back that had all their preferred caterers, including Table of Contents. We decided to go with Timothy Hopkins Catering. His food ABSOLUTELY stood out compared to the other caterers at the event. He isn't cheap, but his samples were so delicious. Everything was incredible even though he was $7,000 more than the next runner up, we knew we HAD to have him because his food was just that much better. I really cannot wait to eat at my wedding!

We're getting married in Sept at the Cambridge Boat Club and are looking for caterer and wedding planner recommendations from other local brides.
We're doing small bite/tapas throughout the evening, so we'd like a caterer who has experience with that. We're foodies, but don't have a huge budget, so we are hoping to get creative.
For the wedding planner, we just need someone for design advice over the next few months, and then set up and organization day of and breakdown at the end of the event. The event and decor is casual, so we don't need someone expensive, just someone with a good eye who's really organized, that can ensure we don't have to go crazy the day of.
Thanks so much for advice from Boston/Cambridge brides.
