I think it just depends on what you are looking for. You can often find Jcrew dresses on ebay for under 100.00. Also sometimes even when Jcrew has sales you can get them for under 100.00
Target is another place to look: http://www.target.com/Parties-Weddings-Dresses-Clothing-Women/b/ref=nav_t_spc_1_icn_11_4/187-6933145-0585523?ie=UTF8&node=144457011&forceIncat=icn_women
Ann Taylor sometimes has dresses on sale for under 100.00
Do you want everyone to have the same dress or just the same color? You could always do black dresses and most girls would already own a dress they could wear.
My colors are yellow, black and white. I would LOVE to find a dress that is white on the bust, black on the body, and have a really volumized skirt. I think that having something so specific in mind is what is holding me back a little bit. maybe i should be more openminded? haha
and i definitely want everyone to wear the same dress (five BMs)
Don't hold yourself to "bridesmaids" dresses. The cost to quality ratio is not in your favor. You could even look at H&M or Forever 21. Since you are looking for black and white and don't need one color is lots of different styles, there is no reason you need to look at bridesmaids dresses exclusively.
This could be cute if you are going for an alternative look.
I happened to be internet shopping for my rehearsal dress and saw a black and white dress similar to what you described... It might not be anything like you have in mind but for the price I wanted to share.
Good luck planning!
Hit the mall. And then go in EVERY SINGLE STORE. Makes for a long and exhausting day, but... can be very productive. If you go on a weekday, it'll be less busy; don't 'window shop' - just get in, ask the sales girls to show you what they have in white/black, and get out.
Have you checked out White House Black Market?
and
are both a little out of your price range, but GORGEOUS. You could keep an eye on their sales.
(Example: I think THIS would make a great BM dress!)
I've never ordered from this place, but I've read good reviews about them.
But when you said white on the top and black on the bottom it made me think of this dress which is a little bit over 100:

This dress is also very cute:

I feel like there's a LOT you can do, but you might have to compromise either on price or on the exact idea a little bit.
I can't stop looking either. I guess I am bored now that there is nothing left to pick out for my own wedding.

@jocelyn3476 -- you really bored? wanna help me look? I've got a seemingly impossible order to fill... 4 modest girls, one's a size 14/16, two are 6s and ones an 8. All pale caucasians, one bottle blonde, one natural sand blonde, one red head (with a ruddy complexion) and a brunette.
No black (we're doing brown suits) on the dresses unless it's a minor fabric accent, no strapless or spaghetti, no low cut necklines, cut at the knee (I meant it when I said they're modest girls). Under $100, or $150 since I'm starting to give up, would be amazing.
Any color, really, or patterned. Our wedding is going to have a very playful, whimsical atmosphere, and as of yet has no color scheme. :)
@daydreamweaver how about either of these:
Both come in different colors.
Here's another:
two more if you are interested in duchess satin:

Not sure where this falls on the modesty scale:
To anyone looking for cute dresses check mod cloth, they have decent prices and some cute selection! It can be hit or miss but I love a lot of their stuff.
I asked my bridesmaids to find their own black, strapless, long dresses that would fit in their budget and about half of them went with this dress from Nordstrom, which is $98 and of superior quality. It also comes in various colors.
White House Black Market has great stuff. Its expensive, but it goes on sale and they have coupons, so you might be able to get something like what you are talking about at the price you are looking for.
i agree with some of the other girls ebay or craigslist. in my case i found 5 bridesmaid dresses for 50 bucks each, all were in bigger sizes than my girls needed so i had my expert sewing mother alter them to fit it turned out great, you can buy dresses individually too to mix sizes and just watch online sales. some sites will give you discounts if your buying more than one dress, its important to always ask

My bridesmaids are all in school and really can't afford to spend a whole lot of money on a dress right now. Being the good friend and nonbridezillian I am, I really want to find cute, affordable dresses for them!
Any ideas bees? Thanks bunches!
