I'm a wanna-be photographer in my spare time but I usually do stuff like trees and sunsets etc. Well, my brother got engaged this summer and him and his FI are working on a budget, so I offered to take their e-pics for them-- which I"m doing this Sunday afternoon.

I am confident in my abilities to get technically good photos and edit them correctly, what I am not sure about is how to pose people for e-pics! I haven't had mine yet and I've done VERY little straight up portrait work. For those of you who have had your e-pics done, I'd love some suggestions on how to pose them, unique poses, and even examples of your favorite e-pics if you have them. I just want to do a great job for my brother and get more than your standard "okay smile at each other, okay now kiss, okay now laugh" etc. :)

Maybe look at photographers' websites and see what kind of poses they do. It will give you a sense of what works in terms of posing.

Our photog didn't pose us much, he kind of let us arrange ourselves with only small directions.  It felt more natual that way, I think.

Search for photojournalistic photographer pics. Sometimes it's less about the pose and more about the angles or the areas shot (from the knee down) or the fade.

when all else fails, bring fun props or so somewhere great that they can just interact with their surroundings.  Supermarket, playground, arcade, museum, toy store.  Nothing too posey, think of some foolproof things that make them giggle.

i wish i had made a list of the shots i wanted, but i was on vacation during ours and it was like 5 am and i was flustered (crazy planning, huh? haha).  Hand hold both looking at the camera, hand hold w/ FI at cam and me at him, hand hold with me at cam and FI at me, etc.  If you can get those out of the way you can concentrate on some of the candids and other shots, plus they'll be more loose.  Good luck! post pix!

When you edit them you should post (with your bro's permission of course)!!!! Love to see what you came up with.
