    For my invitations I want to make 2 postcards (4x6) that are like the "Greetings From..." series. One for our DW locations and one for our at-home reception.

    I found a picture online that I want to use for the background but i'm unsure of the size and quality required to make it work.

    Here is a link to the Photo

    The size is 484x383 p and 72 dpi

    If anyone could give any guidance I would greatly appreciate it!

    Can you post an inspiration of what you're going for and I can try to help. I use an open source version of Adobe Illustrator.

    In general, photos you find online are going to be a lower resolution than what you'd probably want for printing purposes.  It would be best if you had a photo that you took off a camera, or one that you scanned because it will be a much higher quality picture.

    If you're just using the photo for a background and you're going to tone down the colors, it might work, but it does seem too small to print postcard size.  You should do a test print of that image, even on your home computer to see if it prints pixelated or fuzzy at all.

    If you do a google image search you can filter your results by image size and choose to view only large photos.  It still won't be quite the same quality as a scanned image or photo off your camera, but it will work better.

    Hope that helps!

    @Carnival_Bride:

    This is the idea that I am going for:

    Looking for help from Graphic Designer Bees : wedding invitation graphic design postcard Postcard 2 Front

    Our DW is in Key West but our reception is at home in St. John's, NL. Sorry for the Giantness. I found it in a shop on Etsy.

     @BuzzBuzz:  I will try printing it out and see what happens. It is a small city though so I maybe be able to track down a local photographer that has something similar. If I bought a printed photograph (5x7) and scanned it would that be adequate?

    For colour printing of a 6x4 card you want 300 dpi, 1800x1200 pixels. If you're going to do B&W printing you can get away with 150 dpi, but I honestly would not go that low unless I was printing text only.
