- Wedding: July 2013
So we have a tentative budget set for our wedding, which I know is the first things to be done for planning. Now I am on to looking for a reception venue so that we can pick our date for next summer. My problem is I am going crazy looking for a suitable place.
See we want our reception to have a big old family reunion, bbq feel. Some place you can kick back, play some lawn games, get to know everyone, eat and laugh. But I have come across several issues so far. First our rough estimate puts us at about 150 guests. So most of our family’s backyards are out of the question. Second, we would like alcohol to be served, that puts most parks out. Third, I would like it to have space inside and out so that guests can be where they want.
I just feel like I am looking for something that doesn’t exist. I mean if it comes down to it, I know we could cut the guest list or have it in my mom’s backyard, even though we’d have to figure out parking logistics. But I wanted to get married closer to where we live now, which is a little over two hours away from her. I just feel like most places want you to do the big fancy thing and we just want the casual low key thing.
So I guess I am looking for suggestions that maybe I haven’t thought of. Is there anyone who went the casual reception way? What type of venue did you go with? Any tips or hints or ideas will be greatly appreciated. I posted on my local board but it seems kind of dead, like no posts in like a month or two. So I am just looking for some general guidance. Thanks!
