The better than diamond boards have rings in that range.

Even if you’re going with Amora, you’ll get some warm tones that will be apparent in a stone that large.  Your mention of quality makes me wonder if you’re trying to pass it, in which case moissy’s not a great diamond substitute.  It’s got a cut that will have sort of a splintery sparkle to it.  The sparkle will also be more rainbowy than a diamond.  If you’re concerned about color and would like a more diamondlike cut, I’d recommend an Asha.

If you can wait a couple years, I’d recommend ultimately getting an Amora Gem, as it will be a hearts & arrows cut and F color.

I’ve never seen moissanite in person that I know of, but from looking at pictures from other bees, I do not see any difference at all, and I think that you could totally pass a ring that size off as a real diamond and no one would ever know.

There’s good pictures and a video here: http://betterthandiamond.com/products/Asha-Radiant.html

@ForeverAndEverAfter:

You linked an Asha, not an Amora. Maybe you knew that, but Ashas are not moissanite! Ashas are more “diamond like” in appearance a least in some cuts.

As for moissanites, I do think there is definitely a more apparent difference especially as you go larger, though Amora does cut down on the body colour it cannot rid it completely and the flashes it gives off are different? Someone uneducated in diamonds may not know, and may just assume, but the reality is that the larger you go, the more likely people will second guess anyway.

RB moissanites ARE cut differently too, at least for now, and people who know their cuts can tell, especially again in larger stones.

Personally, I love moissanite for its colour and difference from diamonds!

I second checking out the BTD forums, and also recommending an Asha and/or waiting for the Amora Gem H&A if you are trying to pass as a diamond.

I have a loose Amora RB 3ct (9mm).I am planning on having it set in a solitaire setting. I think it is nearly colorless. I was able to compare it to an unenhanced moissanite, and there was a definite difference in color. Also, I have compared it to diamonds of a similar size, and the color difference has been very small. Most large diamonds, at least in my experience, are in the G-I color range. My Amora is rated as an “I”. There was definitely less difference between the Amora’s color vs the diamonds of similar size than the difference between the Amora and an unenhanced moissanite. As far as the cut, you really can’t tell a difference without a loupe. Besides that, there are so many different ways to cut a diamond that it is nearly impossible to say a stone isn’t diamond without a doubt based on that alone. This is my jewelers opinion as well. I hope you find what you’re looking for!

@Bstensgaard:  Have you tried on various sizes at a store?

Might be a good idea to get an idea of what flatters your hand and what feels comfortable for you (for example, you might find the height needed for a 3ct is too high for you).

3ct is about 9mm in a round…you can cut out a 9mm circle or go to MoCo and print their stone size chart and cut out various sizes (and shapes). Not terribly accurate of the real life look but better than nothing!

9mm would be quite substantial on a 4.25, though!

@Bstensgaard:

I don’t have my stone set yet. We are in the process of having it set right now, and I’ll post pictures when it is finished. I wear a 5, but I have tried on some 4.5 size rings that fit. I have large knuckles, and I didn’t like how tight the 4.5 was when I was putting it on/taking it off. Anyway, my point is that a 3ct would likely look very similar on your hand to the way it does on mine. I was afraid this would look too large in the beginning, but, after seeing it and trying on several diamonds of similar size, I really love it. Still, RayKay is right. The 3ct will be a good bit higher when set, which makes it look larger. Its a really good idea for you to go try on similar size diamonds. I found that I like it even better with the height, but you might not.

I haven’t seen any that size on here (other than now the loose stone on this thread), most bees moissys seem to be in the 1-2 c. range.  I would just order it and see if you like it.  If not, you can always return it.

i know this is real late but mine is 9×7 radiant cut enhanced moissy set in rose gold, i love it and dont mind all the color because not trying to pass it as diamond but in person, it does not look “cheap or fake” in my opinion 🙂
