Where else have you looked? Our venue search was hard too. It took us a while to find ours.
The Old Field Club: It isn't as modern as the foundry but it has a very rustic charm with a lot of understated elegance. It is right on the water with ceremony location outside. it may be too far out on LI for you (it is near stony brook) but here are some pics:

Hi ladies,
Looking for the perfect wedding venue doesn't turn out to be as fun as I thought it would be :(. So i'm turning to the boards hoping that I can get more ideas this way. My fiance and I are looking to get married in the spring next year and we have agreed to look for a modern & rustic venue for our wedding. So far the one place that we both like a lot is the Foundry however the site fee and all other fees that they are charging are quite a lot. we are now looking for other venues with similar look and feel to the foundry for comparison and haven't found much luck in our search. So far we found the stone house at the stirling ridge to have similar ambiance but we still like the foundry more.
I'm wondering if any of you found any venues during your search that kinda match to what we are looking for please share, because the searching is starting to drive me nuts :)
We are open to where to have our wedding i.e. manhattan, LIC, brooklyn, long island / connecticut / jersey. We are more concerned about finding the right venue that we both really like..
