lionessa:  When I read your post title, “Nicole Miller” screamed at me! Try on her “Dakota” dress. I think it’s probably pretty close to what you’re looking for.

I’m also going to wear a sheath dress, but I’m having mine made by a really good tailor for a really good price in the city I live in.

EDIT: I read too quickly and didn’t see where you wanted a cowl neckline. The Dakota dress is strapless and now cowl. But, it is so elegant and simple and beautiful.

I totally second Nicole Miller; you might also try Theia, J. Crew, BHLDN, or the wedding dress line for BCBG.

I am into the exact same type of dresses! J.Crew’s current bridal line is very simple, elegant and affordable. You should check them out.

Also, shopbop.com has some good ones too, like this Herve Ledger for right under $1500.

Did you see this Nicole Miller? It has a tiny bit of lace, but is more your price range and has a cowl back. http://www.nicolemiller.com/nina-bridal-gown
