We're doing ours at Brookside Farms in Louisville, Ohio.

So far, they are super nice to work with, and it's been a good experience for us. I think they are increasing their prices for 2013, so you'll have to contact them for specifics.
I live in the Cuyahoga Falls/Akron area. While Botzum Farms is BEAUTIFUL, it is extremely expenisve...Like $5,000 just to RENT the barn, with nothing else included. Wolfcreek Winery and Sarah's Vineyard are both absolutely beautiful and would be great for a wedding and/or reception. And I second Brookside Farms! We have visited there and it's gorgeous.
@les105: I'm having my wedding at brookside too, but we haven't narrowed down the caterer. Do you mind me asking, who are you haveing as your caterer?
@JSK: This is terrible, but we haven't decided yet! I know it's bad that I'm dragging my feet, but my wedding is on a Sunday, so none of the caterers are booked lol. I've mostly been talking to Charlie Browns, the coordinator is really nice and helpful. He was willing to go "off menu" for us, which is something we were very pleased with. We wanted beef brisket & roasted sweet potatoes, and he whipped some up for us no problem, even though that's not usually something they make. They were delicious! I just can't narrow down the menu and bar options, so we haven't signed a contract yet. My biggest issue is bar service, they serve Franzia, and I am NOT interested in serving that. My fiance and I have a lot of formal wine training, so it just wouldn't feel "us" to serve wine out of a box haha. They will order another brand of wine if we'd like, or let us bring our own, so that is probably what we'll end up doing about that. They also recommend serving drinks out of plastic (though they offer glass for an additional fee), and I don't know how I feel about that, either. So indecisive! Anyway, good luck in your search.
@les105: Yeah I would not want Franzia served at my reception. I'm pretty sure we will be supplying our own alcohol and then getting back bar service from the caterer. Thanks and good luck with the caterer!
@JSK: That's probably the most reasonable option. Both Charlie Browns & Santangelos will let you do this, I haven't asked about the other caterers. My favorite wine right now is a $4/bottle Shiraz ($3.60 after a case discount), so there's no need to serve junky wine! You can do a lot better than Franzia on close to the same budget.
@les105: You'll have to message me after your wedding, i would love to hear how everything turned out with your caterer and brookside.

Hi Ladies,
I'm looking for suggestions for a unique, affordable, outdoorsy venue near the Cuyahoga Valley National Park/Hudson. So far we've looked into Hale Farm and Village, Happy Days, and Thorncreek Winery in Aurora. I was thinking of Conrad Botzum Farm but read many bad reviews of the place so am hesitant to even go down that road. We're looking at a guest list of about 175. I'm trying to strike the right balance between a venue that's rustic and outdoorsy but still classy.
Any suggestions for us?
