Thanks for posting this - sometimes when you're new to the military you don't even realize what you're saying. I know I did that a few times - you live and learn, so thanks for helping others learn :)
Here's another great resource about OPSEC: http://www.household6diva.com/2010/04/blogging-operations-security-opsec.html

Hey fellow Bees! I was reading some old posts here in the military forum and I started to get a bit nervous reading them! I noticed many times my fellow Bees would list actual dates and places like "FI is coming home from Afghanistan on March 16" and similar lines. (No, that wasn't pulled from any post, just an example of what i have seen)
Please, please, PLEASE remember OPSEC (Operations Security) it is what keeps our loved ones safe. OPSEC is basically not revealing any information that could lead to knowledge of critical information. Even a small piece could lead to large consequences.
Think before you post ANYTHING. As an example, if you post pictures of someone in uniform, black out the nametag; don't post dates of troop movements, e.g., The Kennedy is leaving port on May 12; don't discuss locations and positions of troops, e.g., My hubby's battalion just got crossed the border into Iraq.
These are just a couple of small things that really can mean a big difference. Do your part to keep those who are serving our country safe!
If anyone has questions on what is or isn't considered an OPSEC violation, PM me and I can send some more informaiton your way to help out.
Thanks for the opportunity to give this little PSA!
