Has anyone experienced loose stools instead of the usual constiptation? I keep hearing that most women have had problems being stopped up, but haven’t heard much about loose stools. I’ve pretty much experienced this from day one and am waiting to see when the constipation will start. I am 8w today. I have been eating mainly proteins and fats and trying to limit my carb intake. I should also add that my morning sickness has been minimal (occasional queasyness and heartburn)

@stellabella: I haven’t heard of this- I have had the opposite problem with both pregnancies, especially after taking iron pills. Your problem sounds much better to me!

I had this the first 10 weeks or so. I had MS, but wasn’t throwing up. I had food aversions and nausea and everything I managed to eat went out the other directions, quickly. When I talked to my doctor about it at 6 weeks, they said it was fine and would stop on its own. Then at 10 weeks they found I was really dehydrated and told me to drink a lot of water and take an immodium every time I had loose stool. It mostly cleared up after that and was totally gone by 12 weeks. I ended up losing about 6 pounds from it though.

Loose stools, all. the. time.
When my doctor put me on iron pills he told me it might make me constipated, I thought that was thrilling and he laughed at me. Apparently it is normal, just not as common.
Keep yourself hydrated.

@stellabella: Could be your prenatals. I laughed when I read the side effects “may cause constipation, may cause diarrhea” soooo basically it may make it hard to poo and it may make it easy to poo!

I have this fairly often, it’s normal. Women’s bodies are different.

@stellabella: I had pretty loose stools during my first trimester. Make sure you are drinking enough water & check in with your doctor and see if they are concerned at all.

8 weeks, morning sickness without vomiting and loose stool. It seems like the more I eat the worse it gets so I eat little meals throughout the day. That seems to help

I definitely experienced this during my first 8-10 weeks. I would be constipated one day and have diarrhea the next. Some days I felt like I lived in the bathroom. From what I have read this is not abnormal. One possibility I have read about is that your prenatal vitamin has an added laxative ingredient to combat the usual constipation that women experience.

I’m 22 weeks, and mine have been soft from the beginning. Not diarrhea, just soft. I’m not looking a gift horse in the mouth though. I’m petrified of developing hemorrhoids.

@stellabella: Every single day during the pregnancy. Lost the baby at 10 weeks and poof, it stopped. I just chalked it up to pregnancy. I wouldn’t worry unless it is happening all the time. It happened each morning for me so not worrying!

Almost 24 weeks and no constipation, even after having added iron supplement. Knock on wood! But yes, I did have loose stool in the first trimester, and runny diarrhea type (one shotters, not continuous trips to the bathroom) poops. I love poop talk, lol.
