My fiance and I both love Lord of the Rings (by no means is our wedding themed) but he loves the idea of using "Concerning Hobbits" as our bridal party walked down the aisle. Is that too dorky and gimmicky? If not, any ideas for a song while I walk down the aisle?

It's awesome!!  Dorky is the new black, first of all and geek is the new cool!!  Anyone that knows the song would LOVE hearing it while you walk down the aisle!!

Hehe, I love Lord of the Rings. It might be a bit nerdy, but if you both like the idea, I say do it. That song is lovely. If you are concerned with it being too dorky, you could use a similar flute music that has the same style, but a different tune?

I'm a big LOTR dork too!  I love it, and say go for it if it has meaning for you guys.

I doubt the people who would think its "dorky" will even know what it is and for those that DO know what it is I think they will find it fun.

not at all, I have been thinking of using it for a while! I love the LOTR soundtrack, Howard Shore is an amazing composer. I've also been thinking of using music from The Fountain, Clint Mansell writes some emotional music!

The thing is, if your guests aren't nerds themselves, they will just think it is pretty music.  If they are LOTR fans they will appreciate it.  If they recognize it and make fun of you for it, then they are LAME.  :)  I say go for it.

Awesome idea! Go for it! I would do it too....but I won't get away with it - my other half just isn't nerdy enough :)

    So...for me...cos I can't....please do!

That is an awesome idea. We are considering music from video game soundtracks

I would chuckle if I heard it at a wedding (because my mom is a huge LOTR geek and I'd recognize it right away), but I think it's a great idea. That's one of the great things about weddings: they get to express who you and your husband-to-be are, and I think music is a great way to do that. I'd say go for it!

I had never heard this song, so I went to Youtube...

and within 5 seconds, my boyfriend asks, "Why are you listening to the hobbit song?!"  I think he was excited to think I was looking up something LOTR related.  Oops.

    Pretty song, though!

I think it's a great idea!  Maybe because I've decided to use "Concerning Hobbits" also :).  I think anyone who recognizes it will think it's cool that you used it, and anyone who doesn't will think it's just very beautiful music!!

I love LOTR!  And not "dorky" at all. I can't recall that one off hand but I know it has some great music on them.

It's really pretty, I just looked it up on Youtube, played by a guitar... really pretty.  It's not like your walking down to the Imperial March/Darth Vaders theme! so no it's not dorky at all

I think that LOTR fans will think it is cool. I am not a fan, and I would just think it was cute music. Of course if you put "Concerning Hobbits" in the program, that might give it away. ;)

@kingytobe:  I'm so curious did you end up using this and if so, how did it go? I'm totally considering!
