We used Caught in the Moment, they are located in Long Beach (Naples area). They are great, very easy to work with and great prices. I have worked with them before at work events so I knew right away I wanted to use them for my wedding.
I haven't used them personally but I loved Bonnie Tsang's work as well as Harrison Long (who was sooooo nice in emails).
We used Dacia Lamb of Dacia Lamb Photography for our engagement shoot. Had we gotten married in LA, we would have gone with her for our wedding, too! She's terrific -- laid back, creative, and fun. www.dacialamb.com
We used Jessica Quadra. We really loved her. Her style is vintage and elegant. Her second photographer was Sheri Hansen Wade who was so awesome too.
My wedding photographer is Jasmine star. We havent done our engagement photos or wedding yet but i love her previous work. Shes also incredibly sweet, and we cant wait to work with her! We also met with gabriel ryan before we chose jasmine him and his wife carlie are also great. I dont know what your budget is though.
I've asked Jill Thomas to photograph my wedding. My fiance and I have spoken to her on the phone, and she's super friendly and nice, and most importantly, I absolutely love, love LOVE her work. Her work is very creative, and I can't wait to see what she does with my wedding! http://jillthomasphotography.com/
We used Amy Theilig http://www.amytphoto.com. We havent' gotten our pics yet (so maybe a little slow with the editing) but she was such a pleasure to have at the wedding, she was fast, fun, and unobtrusive. And her previous work is very beautiful, so I'm really excited to get our pics!
My fiance and I booked a weddingbee pro Amelia Lyon for our Aug 2010 wedding. You should check out her blog. She and her husband are just fantastic.
I booked Ja Tecson as our photogrpaher. He is so talented!! And super sweet, hip and fun. Check out his blog and website! He is from LA and lives in LA, so he took us to some amazng spots for our engagement shoot (silverlake, downtown, LA library, little tokyo)
@loveforpancakes - we're also using Jill Thomas for our 8/21/09 wedding! We met her in person and she is so incredibly sweet and charming, on top of being uber talented.
We booked Julio Cesar (<cite id="gid_139006822">www.<strong id="gid_139006823">juliocesarphotography.com) we really liked his enthusiasm and he has a great eye for amazing shots. He photographed my best friend's wedding a few years ago, and we loved his pics. </cite>

Well, I'm a San Diego bride, but I'm using Melissa McClure, I know she travels as well. Besides here AMAZING work - she is probably one of the nicest people you could ever meet!! If you're interested, check her out:
We booked Sharaga Studios. They did my friend Mary Beth's wedding, who was on Platinum Weddings two years ago and their work is simply amazing. I cannot rave enough about how beautiful their work is. Their prices are surprisingly reasonable for what you get.
Lloyd and Shirley Sharaga are based in Woodland Hills.
i know i'm getting married in San Diego, but I'm a LA local. We've booked Leigh Miller. She travels anywhere and everywhere!
We also used Leigh Miller, whom I adore as both a photographer and a friend. She's very gifted and super nice to boot. We also had Luna Photography there, and they were also terrific.
We used Nathan See and we were very happy with how the pictures came out.
We had a very challenging reception venue he had to work with because it was small and crowded but he and his assistant came through with flying colors.
His prices, turn around time and the fact that he's just a really nice laid back guy helped too. He came to my house at 10 p.m. in the rain to drop off some pictures that I wanted to include in my Christmas cards.
This is actually the first and only place I've posted a link to my on-line wedding pics but he has a lot you can look at: http://nathansee.instaproofs.com/
Side note: if you come across pictures of me with gray teeth that's from the grooms cake, I always have to tell people that LOL!!!
We're going with Brandon Kidd- love his work with the soft lighting, great compositions and he's the sweetest guy ever!
@redbullfanatic - we loved Bonnie Tsang's work too! In fact, we met with her and she told us that she was trying to get away from wedding photography (boo!) and so would be doing less weddings. On the plus side, she would be able to spend more time on your wedding
@july112010 - my photographer is using Jasmine Star for his wedding! In fact, of all the photographers we've talked too, almost all of them know who Jasmine Star is! She's definitely the cream of the crop!
I've got a huge list of LA area photogs--I had to contact a ton of them, because so many were booked or too expensive for our budget. Enjoy the list!
www.acquaphoto.com (based in SD but will travel to LA for free)
Here is my photographer, He's awesome! We're flying him to Jamaica and paying for his accommodations and he is still saving us money!:

Susan Sabo Photography. She's the only affordable photog who's work I liked (I'm picky when it comes to photography since I was a photo major). Everyone else in our budget was typical/cheesy. But what solidified our decision was our meeting with her: relaxed but professional. We LOVE our engagement pics! can't wait for the wedding pics!!!
I used Sarina Love Photography. (http://sarinaloveblog.com/2010/06/07/brianne-and-nate-wedding-long-beach-ca/ - our wedding)
She hasn't been doing it long so she's still reasonably priced and she's super nice. Also, we got our photos much more quickly than most photographers. We were on her blog in two days and we had a CD just 18 days after the wedding.

Would love to know who your photographer is/was and if there was anything in particular about them that made them stand out above the rest for you (above loving their work).
