It varies for different people. I try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio 4 to 5 times a week and light weights for about 15 to 20 minutes 3 to 4 times a week. I also make sure that I eat breakfast to prevent my body from going into "starvation" mode and turning everything I eat into fat.
My sister on the other had...is using Alli and working out about 3 times a week.
She is seeing the loss in pounds faster than me, but I am looking more toned.
Realistically, you shoudl be able to lose 8 to 10 pounds a month...Good Luck.
i personally think the safest way to lose weight is the natural way-- eating healthy and exercising (at least 30 mins/day-- even just going for a walk). if you make exercise part of your daily routine and make it a 'social' thing, that helps motivate you (and your friends!) get more active. i started running with my friends, and am now hooked!
you need to find a plan that works for YOUR body and stick to it.
basically there's two different ways - low fat or low carb (and no you can't do both) - it truly depends on what would work for YOUR body. being a low-carb advocate, I will tell you to google low-carb diets and read all the info you can...but ALSO you should look into low-fat plans too - but either way you must stick to it.
I've done both in my life. I am a weight watchers "lifetime member" having lost 60 pounds 5 years ago on it - but after gaining 40 of it back and finding out I was "insulin resistant" I realized for my body I needed to eat low-carb.
do your research on BOTH types of diets. there are tons of plans out there that work, as long as you work the program.
I changed my lifestyle this year and started the Atkins Plan and followed through to maintenance (which is where I am now) and have lost 30 pounds and kept it off now for 4 months. I personally love it because it's a very whole-foods plan that you introduce new foods as you go along with the phases and I eat tons of vegees, fruits, dairy, nuts, beans, all whole-unprocessed foods. Giving up sugar was VERY hard and sometimes I do slip up - but for the most part I don't eat sugar anymore. I also love that I got over my fear of fat.
Again though - I would do your research on both types of ways of eating and see which one fits you the best.
Good luck!!!
A safe weight loss is no more than 2 lbs a week using diet and exercise. Diet pills are TERRIBLE for you and increase the chance of heart attack and other really bad stuff!

How can I lose weight safely? I wanted to try slimming pills but everyone told me that it is not the safest way to lose weight.
