So Bees I have been an emotional wreck pretty much the past 2 days because I have lost my wedding rings Yes Both Bands and Engagement ring Because they were all soldered together.

I know 100% I had it on when I was driving home from work Tuesday night b/c it was bothering me bc my fingers were swelling and it was pinching so I pulled it off and put it on my middle finger down to the knuckle It fit tight I have done this many many times before even wore it like that almost all day at work one day while doing hair and it never once fell off or wouldnt even slide.

Wednesday morning I am driving to work and think man I forgot to put my ring on. Then I think I DON'T REMEMBER SEEING IT! (I always take it off at night when I wash my face and put it in this little dish on my bathroom windowsill) Then I think I DON'T REMEMBER TAKING IT OFF! So I immediately call my husband to tell him to please look for it and the search begins.

He said he looked the house over everywhere he could think of. I sat down and wrote out a paper retracing my steps of every single thing I did. 3 of us have torn the house apart for 2 days looking for my rings NOTHING!

The first thing I did was went to pick my daughter up at my mother in laws I walked from my car to the front door (only on their driveway & their little porch). Then I went home walked from my driveway to my house... got my dog and took her out. I only stood in the same area to wait for her to go potty which was off to the side of my driveway. Then i went back in. From that point I didn't shower or take a bath or do laundry or wash dishes (and it wouldnt fit down my bathroom sink drain bc of the stopper...so I know it couldn't be down the drain anywhere)But I have searched everywhere I could think of I went into 4 rooms of our house that night so you wouldn't think it would be so hard.

I looked all the obvious places couch, bed , drawers or baskets, hamper, Trash, recycle, and even the more strange places going over every single thing I did like I looked in the potato chip bag, the ice bucket, the fridge, the dog food bag, etc....NOTHING

I questions all the family about seeing it and no one has... even offered a reward to ANYONE who finds it! SO We had 6 different people come down and search our yard & driveway as well as my In Laws...my husband even got his metal detector and walked the entire area(even ran it over the dog just to make sure! . I have had 4 different people check my car. I even called around to all the businesses I work near (we are in the same shopping center) worried that it might have been in my car and i knocked it out when i went to work Wednesday morning to see if anyone turned it in (Target had an entire drawer full of lost rings! I couldn't believe it) NOTHING!

I have went over and over it again and again and while I know for certain I had it on in my car... that's it I don't remember otherwise .. I cant remember a time for sure that I had it on after that But I know I didn't have it on when I washed my face or I would have done my normal routine and put it where i do every single night. I just don't understand where it can be! IT HAS TO BE HERE SOMEWHERE!

Hubby was pretty upset about it (with reason) but he is more sorry I am so upset about it, bc to him it was just money to me it was emotional.

We do have it insured through our homeowners insurance but.. even if we could get one exactly like it... it still will not be MY WEDDING RINGS. I don't know in my mind its irreplaceable. I am so mad at myself for being so irresponsible. You would think I would have not just stuck it just anywhere.... And you would think I would notice it fall off.. I mean it is pretty good sized and has some weight to it.

He is going to call tomorrow to see about what we need to do or if there is a waiting time or a time limit to report it. But we were looking online and reading alot of companies wont cover it if it was a "mysterious disappearance" well WTF does that mean? I mean if it wasn't a mystery wouldn't I know were it was? I mean if I knew exactly where I lost it.. I would know exactly where to look for it!

So has anyone else lost their ring? Did You find it? Did You claim it under your insurance? How did that work? Did insurance cover it?

I'm sorry, that really sucks. I've misplaced my rings a couple of times - once even took one off in my sleep and found it the next morning in the sheets - and I know the panic that slides over me when I'm hunting for them.

You mentioned your dog. If there's any chance she likes eating shiny metal off the floor, you might want to watch her for the next few days. Same for your daughter if she's really young!

Good luck! I have no experience with insurance, so no idea there.

Also, did you check the trap of your sink? Is there any way they could have fallen down a drain?

LittleSu...He said the metal detector would have picked it up even in her belly when he "wanded" over her but no I dont think she would have eaten it... she has never eaten anything before. It is such panic I have just been a wreck and it has even had me sick to my stomach over it.
My daughter is 7 so she wouldnt have ate it...and I have questioned her many many times to the point where she is pretty mad at me that I didn't believe her and thought she might have been lieing.

SoonTobeeMrsD.... I really dont think there is any change it could have fallen down the drain... expecially not the bathrooms bc of the stoppers with all 3 rings attached and the size of the center I dont even think it would fit down the kitchen drain but I really didnt even use the sink I put a cup in there and rain a little water in it to rinse it out but thats it.

Oh my gosh, this is my nightmare. I lost a necklace that SO gave me and I have felt terrible about it since. I am so sorry you are going through this. I don't have any advice for you as far as the insurance goes, but I really hope you have overlooked them and they turn up!

Check around where you normally take off your ring. I usually take my ering off when I'm packing up stuff in the warehouse at work on cold days, because it gets so freezing cold I'm afraid my ring will slide off. Once I did NOT remember taking it off & I had just packed up 7 boxes & the UPS driver came & picked them up. After that, my ring was not on my finger & I was afraid I'd mailed my ring off to to Florida or Nevada & would never get it back :(. Turned out, I was SO used to taking it off, that it was right where I leave it when I take it off for work but a paper got put on top of it. So check around the areas that you would normally take your ring off.

    Hope you find it!!

I lost my engagement ring in a similar fashion. I was so torn up about it. My fiance felt the same as your husband. I have not to this day, found my ring... but he did buy me a new one. I still miss the old one very much. Needless to say he waited an awfully long time (6 months) before giving me the new ring... he said he didn't want me to lose again it so he waited closer to the wedding "OUCH" burn lol

I lost my college ring right off my finger and didn't even notice until a day later. I tore everything apart, but no luck.

I suspect it slipped off my finger into the trashcan after a shower and my finger was cold.

If you can, I would go through the garbage to make sure it's not there...

Im not religious but I always say a prayer to St Anthony!! I cant even tell you how many things Ive lost then found after saying a prayer! Also, just be calm. Sometimes getting all worked up makes it harder for us to find things. Did you check your purse? Did you check inside your car? Maybe under the mats near your feet or under your seat? Sometimes things we lose are in the most obvious places and afterwards we cant believe we thought they were lost! Good luck to you!!

I am so so so sorry! It looks like you've covered your bases on places to look. I just hope it turns up someplace unexpected soon.

I lost my ering about a month ago in what I thought was our front yard. I was SICK over it, a complete mess- balling like a baby, certain it was lost forever. I had my whole family searching the yard, our cars, etc. Turns out it (freakishly) fell into a tiny crack in the console of my mom's car & my brother found it after ripping apart her car for the 5th time (I was riding with her that day). I am extremely lucky to have it back & I'm extra careful with it now after going through that. I would go through every possible crevice in your car again!

Good luck, please let us know if you find it...

keep looking - most of the time its right in front of our face and we feel so stupid after we find it.

i was cleaning the kitchen the other day and had taken my rings off and laid them on the counter. spraying cleaner and wiping away i wiped them right into the kitchen sink. luckily i have reflexes like a ninja and stopped them from going straight down the drain. i had a brief moment of panic, and you should have seen the look on my husbands face like "i saw that coming" - note to self, dont leave rings on the kitchen counter.

good luck in your search! you are lucky in the fact that you have it insured, it took almost 7 months of procrastinating before we insured mine. i would hate to lose it!

ps. the st. anthony prayer always works for me too! that is so funny

I washed my hands before cooking one time and as I dried my hands, I used the paper towels to take my rings off. Well, my engagement ring was in a paper towel and I threw it away while cleaning up. I didn't know that at the time - I thought it was on the counter with my other rings! I went through the garbage and didn't find it. Then I unfolded every paper towel, etc, in the trash and there it was. My Fiance was actually going to take the trash out the night before but NOTHING was going to leave that house until I found my ring.

Try the trash, try the sheets, try all around the bed/nightstand, try all around the bathroom floors. It could be anywhere.

Yes!! Definitely pray to St. Anthony :-)

Also...I would REALLY REALLY check the car.  There are SO many little crevices that it could fall into.  ALSO....your purse.  TEAR that thing apart, even the liner (remember the last episode of SATC where Carrie finds her "carrie" necklace in the lining of her clutch?? haha).  Anyway...what about CUFFS of pants or shirts??? Or pockets???  I can't tell you how many things I've "lost" that have somehow perfectly fallen in to the fold of a piece of clothing.  That could definitely be worth investigating again.

Those are really the only true things I can think of.  It's sad to think, but it is a possible reality that it fell out of the car at some point :-(  And if it is a nice ring, there are a lot of "not-so-nice" people that may not turn something like that in.

That being said...start checking some consignment/jewelery/and pawn shops nearby!!!  Maybe someone has found it and already sold it!!  Or at least tried to!  It wouldn't hurt to ask.  You could bring a picture of the ring with you, and maybe even your appraisal.  Maybe if you explain your situation, if the store has it, or it turns up, they will call you and even cut you a deal.

BEST OF LUCK!  Saying a prayer for you!

Something like that happened to me, and my cats "played" with my engagement ring and batted in between a crack between the wood floor and the wall under one of our heaters.  I panicked and couldn't stop crying.  We looked for weeks! I even made my fiance bring the trash back in and search through it.  I really really really hope you find your rings! I am sending ring detective juju vibes your way!

Hooray for a happy ending! Phew! So glad that you got your rings back!! Maybe you could invest in a simple necklace to slip your rings on when your fingers swell or get too cold. Little bit of peace of mind for you!
