- Wedding: September 2011
We are having a VERY small wedding (around 20 ppl – immediate family only.) Our wedding party consists of my sister (MOH) and my fiances brother (BM.) My sister has not been a part of planning my wedding, she lives in Chicago and I am in NC, and frankly never asked if there was anything she could do to help me. She already has a dress from a previous wedding that I told her to wear in mine (I did ask her to buy a shorter skirt but that was only $40) and she already has jewlery that she is going to wear. We are doing our own hair and make-up, and since we are arriving the day before the wedding and have the rehearsal dinner that evening there is really no time for mani/pedis/massages or anything like that…. So this brings me to my question, what should I get her as a gift? I know traditionally a lot is spent on the Bridesmaid or Best Man and Maid/Matron of Honor, but I am not having a traditional wedding, and while I would like to get her something, I can’t afford to spend $100’s. Our entire wedding is estimated to cost around $5,000-$6,000 (including our rings, dress, tux, hotel rooms, AND honeymoon) and while we think our parents are going to give us a nice “gift” of money for the wedding, as of now we are paying for the whole thing ourselves. We are not having a reception, just going out to dinner. This should give you an idea of how small of an event this is. Anyway, my sister is hard to buy for to begin with. She doesn’t like anything girly and never wears nice jewelry so if I bought her that it would be a waste. I am lost on what to buy her. I want to get her something nice, but not too expensive… But I don’t want to look cheap either. Any thoughts are appreciated!!
