You could use large branches like trees by placing them in pots with plaster of paris. You could cluster these and use white mini-lights.
You could use trees to line the aisle or define the altar.
If you have large boards you can run them down the center of the tables in lieu opf a runner.
You can cut slabs and bucked up lengths to use on the buffet table, candy table etc to raise dishes up.
You can use slabs cut on an angle for labels as in this post

If you have a really wide drill bit, you can bore out holes to insert a candle.
You can cut out large letters to hang on the doors, fence, wall etc - whatever you have available
You can use boards as table runners

So, we had a hurricane awhile back. Some nice hardwood trees fell, not just at my place but friend's places. My wedding is in a year and I want a nature feeling inside and I really want to run around gathering up all this wood... but for what? And that is the question and I want your ideas!!
To give you an vision my reception is in a dance studio (3k square feet, 8 foot ceilings with those ugly ceiling tiles and bright yellow walls). There is a big round pole in the sort of middle of the room. I plan on zip tieing tree branches to it all around and having branches and lights sort of spread across the ceiling there maybe two feet out. So it looks more like a tree than a stupid pole. I'm having a wood cake stand. I'm having crystal trees for center pieces. I'm taking a stick and tying letters to it that say "Fall in love" and putting it over the cake hanging from the ceiling (cuz we are getting married in the fall) And ah... that's all I can think of to do with the FREE and tons of wood.
I mean wedding decorations cost money and its just free wood and I want to do something with it. Something that makes the room feel more like an enchanted forest than a dance hall. I've got everything from twig level to 3 feet wide. Help!
