Good morning my fellow bees! Yesterday I went to DB with my mom and aunt to try on some dresses and fell in love with two. One is a Melissa Sweet gown (MS251003) strapless with a lace bodice and organza skirt and the other is a tafetta gown with beading and rouching from the DB collection (V3476). I love both of them for different reasons.
The Melissa Sweet gown is exactly what I wanted, lace, buttons down the back, ect. BUT I didn’t realize it was only a sweep train. I am not getting married in a church or anything like that but the venue we chose is quite grand and I have always wanted a super huge train. The other gown is beautiful and looks amazing on with the rouching and I love the sparkle AND it has a longer train. Neither have the super long train I have always dreamed of.
In my wildest dreams I am hoping they can create something (basically out of thin air :/ but still hoping) to add to the Melissa Sweet to make the train longer…
What do I do????

If you love the dress even without the train I would get it and trains can be a hassle the day of you maybe happy to not have a huge train. But if the train is absoulutely nessecary for you then might be better to keep looking.

What about a long cathedral veil instead? There was an episode of Say Yes to the Dress where someone wanted a long train but the dress didn’t have it, so they did a really long veil instead to give a similar effect.

@bleusteel: That’s a good idea never thought of that.

I agree with bleusteel; look for a long veil if you love the dress! You’d just bustle the train after the ceremony anyways, so you’re saving yourself a step!

@bleusteel: +1 was just about to post about cathedral veil! I think that is an awesome way to get the drama of a train (which you will really only have down for ceremony and some pictures anyway, which is probably the same amout you wear the veil!

I considered a cathedral veil, but I have to go back and try it on again. I think the Melissa Sweet dress is amazing and I may juyst give up my dream of having a huge train to wear an amazing gown. I am going back to DB this weekend so hopefully I can make a decision

I say, if you love it, get it! regardless if it has a train or not.

I agree….My dress has a fairly long train, but i had always pictured a REALLY long train. I got a 12ft cathedral veil…..problem solved!!!
