Love at first sight for a dress over my budget! Should I replicate this?

rubieeee:  Step away from the dress!(for a second)

First things first, have you tried on dresses? Do you know what style suits you? Will the dress suit your weeding?

After you’ve answered these questions, I would then consider it.

rubieeee:  I would rather contact a seamstress in my area and see what they quote to reproduce it. I say that because that way you have more control and interaction in the process… I had a seamstress make my dress and I didn’t regret it one bit. I ended up paying R2800 (about $280) instead of R10000 ($1000) for the original. My dress wasn’t identical I let the seamstress make some major changes so it honestly ended up not looking like the original design but I preferred it and it was way cheaper

Its beautiful, but it looks so complicated. I think it would be easy to go very wrong and lose the essence of the dress even if all the basic elements are in place. I wouldn’t risk abyone other than JBS and even then I wouldnt be sure that they would be able to do it.

And I also agree with the pp who said to make sure to try on similar dresses – it might be slightly difficult to pull off.

I wouldn’t do it. Honestly, the imitation dresses never live up to the standard of the originals (from what I’ve seen) and this is the kind of dress where one thing stitched wrong could bring down the overall look of the whole thing. I think you would end up disappointed.
