I have really been thinking about relationships today, and I keep going back to what my grandmother has always told me about her 55 year marriage to my late grandfather. I thought it would be cool to start a list of lessons you have learned about love, either from your own experience or from someone else.
Here, I'll start!
Love is when someone sits on the porch swing with you for hours just to hold your hand.
Love is when you never get sick of trying, even when you are sick of the person.
Love is when your fiance will listen to even the most minute details of your planning over and over again just because you need an ear to listen.
Love is when your husband makes you a bagel every morning for breakfast and never asks for anything more than a kiss.
Love is when the size of the ring doesn't matter; it's all about the size of the heart behind it.
Now it's your turn!
Love is that he marries you 10 years and 3 kids later ... and hasn't left you at any point in those 10 years!
Love is this thread....this is so sweet!
Love is never having owned a pet, but taking on yours like it's natural.
Love is rubbing cramping tummies and making hot tea month after month.
Love is when he accepts you with all of your packaging including your 6 month old son (at the time) and raises him like his own :')
Love is when is ... when he hugs you, everything else disappears.
...a day off, a fireplace, a crappy movie, a mattress in the living room, and the FH.
Love is making sure no matter what, that we never go to bed angry, even though one may still be upset, it will be smoothed over at least a bit before we fall asleep :)
Love is when he comes home from a bachelor party at 10 30 at night because he knows how much I hate strip clubs.
Love is when I wake up everymorning to make him a lunch, so he can sleep a little longer.
Love is when he told me I looked beautiful, 10 hours into labour, hair a mess, naked, sweating, and perma frown marks on my face.
Love is when you support eachother, in even the dumbest decisions, because you know how important it is to the other person.
Love is apologizing to end a fight, even though you know in your heart, they were wrong.
Love is when your favorite past time is cuddling and have names for your different kinds/positions of cuddles.
These are all so awesome!
Love is when my grandfather called my grandmother's family's radio show every Saturday night just to have her sing him his favorite song before he went to bed.
Love is thinking that a slightly-hairy man booty is actually.... cute.
(first thing that came to mind after looking over at SO napping on the couch wearing loosely-fitting boxers.. lol!)
Love is when I let him eat my leftovers.
But seriously.
@Ms. Library: Ok, so that one made me tear up!!
Woo ok, I'm alright now.
Love is when my Hubby (then BF ) worked an 11-7AM shift that he hated and I made it a tradition to go see him at about 12midnight every weekend so that he'd feel better.
Love is when you see them and all you do is sigh!
Love is when he walks through the door after work and says "I want kisses" :)
Awwww this thread is a huge heart warmer!!!
Love is an evening in front of the fireplace curled up with cats and your favourite shows.
Love is when he calls you "Beautiful" as a nickname and you know he means it every single time.
Love is when you accept each other for all your quirks, flaws, and baggage, and see that that's what has made you who you are and love each other all the more for it.
Love is watching your grandfather sit with your grandmother each afternoon in her nursing home, telling her about all their travels, friends, and moments in life (big and small) knowing that she'll forget it in 10 minutes, but being happy with holding hands, drinking coffee, chatting and laughing, just being in love 60 years later.
Love is being able to go to sleep angry, and wake up the next morning still knowing the person sleeping next to you is the one you want to wake up with every morning.
Love is knowing that there is always somewhere there,(day or night)who just wants to be next to you. Love is spending all day at work just wanting to be at home with your partner. Love is that feeling of having a warm blanket surrounding you all the time :)
xx
I love this thread!!!
Love is when he brings home ice cream and sneaks it into the fridge to pull out at a much needed time!
love is writing your marriage vows 7 months before your wedding because declaring your love for him in front of your family is the best part of the wedding!
love is learning to love soccer even though u hate all sports just because u know it makes him happy
love is learning to let go of the past
love is anticipating his arrival even though he just left ten minutes ago..
love is knowing youre the luckiest girl in the world because you know how much he is willing to do for you
love is bringing tears to my eyes as i write this...
:0)
man.. i love my fiance :)
Love is when you have only talked to your husband 5 times in 8.5 weeks, but when you see him again, somehow you have become even closer (thanks Air Force!).
love is the text message I get 5 minutes after he has left for work that says "Sorry to wake you, but I just had to tell you that you are going to make the most beautiful wife."
It put the biggest smile on my face this morning!
Love is when you bend over to pick up the laundry basket, accidentally rip a giant fart in his face, and his only response is "Did you eat tacos?"
@pumpkinpatch: Awwwww!!!
@MightySapphire: ROFL!!!! Omg that's too much!!!! And maybe too many tacos....?! LOL!
@bakerella: That was pretty much all of pregnancy...and post-pregnancy...yeah, it didn't really have anything to do with the food I was eating, LOL.
Love is watching every Texans game with FI just to get to see him jump up and dance when they score a touchdown, no matter how infrequent that may be.
Great thread!
Hmmm...love is realizing I will never have the words to adequately articulate it. :-) Like now!
Love is supporting him in accepting a position that will require him to be gone 6 straight months a year, just because you know it's what he really wants - not caring how it'll affect you.
Love is driving 16 straight hours to sit through a weeks worth of baseball games, and knowing there isn't a single other place you'd rather be.
Love is watching how he is with our puppy, knowing the somday he is going to be an amazing dad.
Love is how even when he is gone, I get the sweetest text message every single night, no matter what.
@McVerde: SO does the same thing when the Gators score! He runs around the living room. Cutest thing ever.
Love is sending me roses on our engagment anniversary when he was studying abroad in Russian, having them delivered to my desk at work, and writing the card that said, "From Russian with love."
Love is when he lets me stick my feet under his butt on the couch because they are cold.
Love is when he agreed to move back to our home state for at least a year and take a job in a field outside of his degree just so I could complete some requirements of a loan we simply could have paid back in cash instead.
Love is having crazy dance parties to whatever Pandora is playing.
Love is when he pulls off his shirt and lays in the cold mud to put boards under the tires of your car to get it stuck out of the mud! This was when I first realized he loved me! It sounds silly, but it's true! He would do anything!
Love is when he surprises me with my favorite cookies when he was just supposed to buy milk
Love is when if I complain my nose is cold, he will cup it and breathe on it and give me eskimo kisses
Love is when you tuck the other person in with a blanket if they fall asleep
My friends grandmother once told me that "you know you've found the right person when you both feel like you're the lucky one" :)
Love is when he makes you a hot water bottle, buys you the current issue of People magazine, and rubs your back just because it's that time of the month... and he does it every month.
Love is when he makes you dinner every night without fail, just because he gets off work earlier.
Love is when you never feel the need to snoop, because you trust and respect eachother.
Love is when he tells you you're the most beautiful girl in the world, and you know he means it.
Some of these made me cry! Love this post.
Love is...
When he knows you have had an awful day at work, he has a bottle of wine and a snuggie waiting for you.
When I leave for work every morning (always before he leaves) He always kisses me goodbye, even if he is still sorta asleep :D
This is such a sweet thread!
@Bakerella: Yours totally made me cry! It reminds me of my FHs grandparents.
Love is when he kisses your hand every morning to say goodbye.
Love is when he knows you are having a bad day and brings home chocolate and then grabs you and begins twirling you around the living room right after seeing a commercial for Skating With the Stars and tells you 'we're skating!' so you can't help but laugh.
Love is knowing that he is the one who will stick with you forever.
Love is being a total control freak and yet being totally comfortable handing any decision over to him (even the big stuff... like house A vs. house B).
Love is him taking care of your dog every morning so you can get 10 more minutes of sleep.
Love is hugging me forever when i get home from a weekend away, and telling me I'm not allowed to leave him home alone anymore.
Love is making each other laugh so hard you cry.
Love is waking up at 5:30AM to make me breakfast before I left for work, even though he didn't have to get up until 7:30.
Love is when he will answer to the pet name "Babooshka" in front of his friends.
Love is buying me bridal magazines whenever he goes to the supermarket and sees a new one just because he knows I like them so much.
Love is crying when I cry because he hates it so much whenever I'm upset.
Love is running me a hot bubble bath and pouring me a glass of wine when he knows I've had a rough day - without me asking.
Love is suggesting that we go visit MY family because we haven't seen them in a while.
I could go on and on :)
MightyS- OMG! LMAO! I seriously started cracking up when I read that. It is so quiet right now, and Fi is half asleep on the couch watching tv, and then you just hear "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OMG!" all of sudden. I scared the crap out of him, haha.
Love is when you do the dishes and he comes up behind you and wraps his arms around you and kisses and whispers in your ear. (Man I melt when he does the ear thing, get's me everytime.)
I actually have this quote on my facebook, and it's super true for me, haha.
"For women the best aphrodisiacs are words. The G-spot is in the ears. He who looks for it below there is wasting his time." -Isabel Allende
Love is after 7 years, you still get butterflies looking at him :)
Love this thread!!
@MightySapphire: Freaking hilarious!!
Love is when you wake up earlier than you have to so that you can make coffee for your SO before they head to work/school.
