Hi fellow bees! I bought the first dress I tried on. I had been looking at pictures of gowns and I fell in love with it. I ended up drive 3 and a half hours to the only bridal shop I could find that had it (I’m pretty sure it was the only one in Western Canada that had it in). I fell in love and didn’t want to take it off. I tried on about 4 other dresses while I was there, and while a couple were okay, none of them came even close to the first one. I still can’t wait to put it back on again and I can’t stop thinking about it. I really do love my dress.
The only problem is that I kind of wish I had a bigger dress shopping experience. I wish that I could laugh at a couple dresses that were just not me at all and I wish that I could have tried on every different style of dress (I only tried on mermaid and A-line). I knew I wanted a mermaid, but it would have been interesting to see how other dresses looked too. Don’t worry, I’m not stupid enough to go try on more dresses, but I just wish I had a bigger experience and went to a few different shops and tried on around 20 dresses. The only reason I didn’t go to other shops was because I knew I wanted to buy that dress… I knew it was MY dress… And I wanted to make sure I bought it from the person who was helping me.
Sorry for the long rant… haha! Does anyone else wish they tried on more dresses?

ohhhh! lucky youuuuu. I so envy you. I’ve been trying on dresses since October and nothing seems to fit my perfect vision. I wish I was in your place, believe me

I had the same experience as you! Found my dress online and drove 3 hours to the only shop on the west coast that carried it.
It was the ONLY dress I ever tried on and I paid in full on the spot.
I totally wish I had tried on other styles even though I knew this was my dress.
It was tea length and I never got to see what I looked like in a full length ball gown.
I was joking with a friend that I should pretend like I’m not married yet and go try on dresses just to get it out of my system.

I went to the salon with a specific tea-length dress in mind, but my consultant also pulled a whole bunch of other dresses so that I could see if I liked anything else more. I ended up buying the one I went there for, but I’m glad I got to try on some fit-and-flare and ball gowns.
I’m mostly happy just to be done dress shopping. I’m not a big fan of trying on tons of clothes, so I was glad to get it done early.

I didn’t go to a shop and try on dresses at all. I just bought online. I really didn’t want to go dress shopping, the idea was not exciting to me at all. But one day I’m sure I’ll wish I had the experience.

@ma-moon: lol! We’re each at our own ends of the spectrum here. Too bad we couldn’t have met in the middle. 😉
@Theresa90405: That’s hilarious! I guess I could always do that after I’m married. I won’t have to worry about buying any dresses because I would have no use for any of them. Haha! 🙂
I’m not usually a big fan of trying on tons of clothes either, but I just thought I would’ve liked to see how each style would’ve looked (and hopefully try on a few that would’ve made me laugh).

Hey, some of us try on over 100 dresses and still don’t find what we were looking for. I’d say you’re a lucky girl that you found something you loved so easily! Now you can concentrate on all the other fun aspects of the wedding. When I think back to my dress shopping; I remember stress, frustration, confusion, indecision, lots of driving and lots of time and money waisted on wrong choices. I wouldn’t be too jealous of that 🙂

@meliss: Thank you! I am happy that I didn’t have to go through the extra stress of not being able to find the right dress for a long time.

I felt the same way! The same day I got engaged I jumped online and googled a black andw hite wedding dress and one of the first pics that popped up was Maggi Sottero’s dress. I called the closest bridal shop (fortunately only 45 mins away), actually paid money for them to have the dress shipped to them and tried it on a week later. I had to wedge my size 14 bod into a size 10 (they send you whatever size they want) and ofcourse it looked all funky, but I just knew that once I got my size that it was the dress! I actually went and tried on other dresses after I ordered it because I thought I missed out on an experience. Ofcourse nothing compares to my dress, but I went just to be able to say I tried on more than one dress! 🙂
