All that matters is that you love it! Just tell them they’re entitled to an opinion however you’re the one wearing it and you love it, nuff said! Engagement rings come in all styles and materials, it’s the sentiment not the material that matter πŸ˜‰

Post a pic, I’d love to see!

OOHHHH That sounds interestsing! Can you post a photo please?

Just say something like “I LOVE it. I think it’s very me and it is very, very special to me.” When it comes to engagement rings many people default to diamond, and they have a hard time computing anything else lol Just make it clear how much YOU love it and remember that that’s all that matters πŸ™‚ CONGRATS by the way!

Wow. That’s really cool that your ring is from Rome! Picture?? πŸ™‚

Try not to worry about your family.Your ring is special to you and something that you wear, not them.  It is a symbol of his love for you.  People have been so conditioned to believe that an engagement ring has to have a diamond as the main stone, but it doesn’t really matter.  He loves you and wants you to be his wife.  That’s what matters πŸ™‚

I would love to see a picture as your ring sounds beautiful!

Not to be insulting to your family, but this just seems petty, let them make their comments, explain to them that it doesn’t matter you adore the ring and the sentiment behind it is the real thing that matters, and move on.

@piacavoleKt: That’s so pretty! Is the center blue?! Or is that just a light trick? It’s gorgeous either way though πŸ™‚

your ring is beautiful!!! And I understand what you feel – I told my FI not to bother getting me a ring since I’m not a huge jewelry person.  He still did, and got me a very beautiful but modest ring with a sapphire as the main stone instead of a diamond. It is dainty, and flat – doesn’t stick up (my request), and was VERY REASONABLY PRICED – which was a huge thing for me, for exactly the same reasons you said “I don’t wear jewelry so the simpler the better/less upsetting when I lose it or break it.”

I love my ring, but it is awkward when I tell people I am engaged, and they reach for my hand expecting to see this big fancy diamond and they go …. “ooooooh… that’s … cute!”  It drives me crazy!!!!!

I love my ring, but I love my future FI more, and I would rather spend the money on a lovely honeymoon with him, and a future house with him! we don’t have a lot of money to spend on things that aren’t that important to either of us… but try explaining that to others that have their own opinion. haha.

Flaunt your gorgeous ring and be proud, girl!!

@piacavoleKt:  *shug* you don’t have to wear it.

I have a very normal, traditional ring, that for some reason my mother hates.  I think she thinks the band is too skinny or something… You can’t please everyone, so just please yourself.

Just saw the picture now, and wanted to add that it’s gorgeous!  I might be a teeny bit worried that silver might not hold up as well with daily wear, but if you plan to not wear it all the time, or like you said, it might get lost anyway… there’s no issue.
