    Hey Bees!

This is my first post on the website and I'm so excited to write it! I joined the website this past weekend and I have never been more obsessed since I met my FH! LOL! Laughing

To get started I'm gunna tell you a little about myself. My name is Dana and I'm 22 years old. I am a Muslim girl with a pretty ordinary life. I work and I'm in school for Biology. Enough about me lets get to the good stuff!

How me and my FH met, are you ready for this roller coaster ride of emotions? Well, here goes nothing.

Yes, my family and his are lifelong family friends, but it's not the typical childhood romance you're all thinking. He grew up in Syria (where we are both from) and I grew up here. When he came here in 2007, it was annoyance at first sight lol. I tried being nice to him but all he did was keep that frown on! After a couple weeks of being irratated by his lack of interest in EVERYTHING, I confronted him about it. From that moment until now, our attraction for each other has only grown. For those of you who don't know, Muslim girls arent typically allowed to date (it is frowned upon in our culture). Either way I'm not the typical Muslim girl. I didn't have a strict upbringing, however I wasnt allowed to date either. Anyways, after a 2 years of sneaking around and dating I finally put my foot down. I told him it was time for him to tell his parents and have them ask for my hand (a tradition), little did I know about the battle that was about to ensue! WELL! His mother just did not have it. Arabic mothers tend to think that their sons have no idea what to look for in a woman and apparently she wanted to be the one to choose his bride! I know, insanity but what could you do? Anyways her wrath went on as she spoke about me in less than flattering ways. Although I was heartbroken there wasnt really much I could do. So I broke up with him, told him it was over, and that it would be better if we went our seperate ways. So, that lasted a couple of days then we were back on. A year later, I was done. I was done with the sneaking around and the worrying that someone would spot us, so I said goodbye once again. I said to him I was done and I couldnt take it anymore. This one lasted about 3 months. After 3 months he came to my job told me he loved me and that he didnt want to live without me anymore. So, I gave him an ultimatum. No more playing around, my exact words were "You have one week to have your mom call my mom and ask for me ir we are done forever."

    The conclusion:

The next day his parents were on the phone with my mom asking for me. We got engaged within one week and have been engaged since 5/28/10.

So, how's that for a roller coaster? LOL It took us a year after we got engaged to book a wedding date and here we are only 4 months and 9 days away!

We are more in love then ever! Now dont get me wrong, we have our occasional bickering but nothing out of the ordinary! Can't wait to spend my life with him and to share my experiences with you all!

    Xoxo,

    Dana Kiss

P.S.- I have been going crazy looking through the classifieds and can i tell everyone how helpful all you bees have been! I'm so appreciative and so excited to get to know everyone! <3

Welcome to the Bee! Wow, what a story.. it's so interesting to hear about other culture's traditions. Sounds like it was meant to be between the two of you, though! Happy planning and I'll be seeing you around the boards! :)
