I am using Tender Images in Baltimore. The owner Matt is wonderful and his pricing is great. You get him and his partner for a whole day, no time limit or location limit. Check them out www.tender-images.net
We are using Julie Eisel and so far she has been wonderful! http://julieeisel.smugmug.com/
One thing we really like about her is that we will have full rights to all the images. She will touch them up and give them to us on a DVD.
I blog-stalk andrea jae ... they're new to the business but I think very talented! I think they are around $2000.
I second the vote for Andrea Jae.
Also, she could check out my photog, who has reasonable pricing: http://mariavicenciophoto.squarespace.com/ Her wedding packages start at $2500, I think, but maybe she could work with your friend on pricing, if she's available.
Or here's another one a friend is using: http://www.graphicstrend.com/ Ricky Chung
We are using Alexa at Charles Studio in Frederick, MD. Her packages start at $2500 which includes an engagement session. We have already had our engagement photos taken and they turned out great. Their website sucks, but their photograhs are fabulous.
She could also explore the photography school route. I contacted a local photog school last year about my wedding in July, and they posted the job listing to their current students as well as alumni, and I got TONS of emails from people willing to work in my budget (I said my max was $1500). We ended up booking two awesome recent grads who work as a team, and are getting both for seven hours and rights to all the pics within our budget!
We used Jocelyn Mathewes for our engagement shoot, and would have used her for our wedding, but she is about six months pregnant now, and is due around our date, so that's why we didn't end up going with her for the big day. She's great and did our engagement shoot for free to make it up to us!

We're using Jenni of Forever-Yesterday for our wedding day. She comes highly reccomended and is the quickest vendor ever. You write her an e-mail, you usually have a response within a few minutes. She's great, and VERY budget friendly!
I used Carmen Wang Studio-- they are a young wife-husband team, and their prices were great. They shot my traditional Cambodian wedding from 8 in the morning until 11 at night. They were efficient and direct. I loved them.

Hi Bees,
My good friend is getting married in the Baltimore area in July and is still hunting for a photographer. Her budget is about $2000 (but isn't picky about the package & stuff). Who do you recommend for that price? She needs to make a decision soon and is starting to stress out.
Thanks, lovely bees!
