I’m trying to find a new setting for my heirloom diamond. I was originally interested in recreating a vintage soliatire setting, but the places I went to in LA were quoting me around $3,000 to make a custom vintage-style setting (just the gold with no stones). I fell in love with a vintage solitaire setting similar to this one (The head of the ring is like a crown shape) but can’t find a setting like this in stores. i love that these settings hold the stone like a “basket” and are low enough to not get snagged on things. All the Tiffany style settings I’ve tried are set too high or have bands that are too thick.
Are there any ideas about where to find a setting like this?

@Eamesgirl: doesnt Vache have a crown setting like that? Try searching pricescope?

@Eamesgirl: You could try Joseph Schubach jewelers for a custom setting and I’m pretty sure they will charge you much less than $3000 for it. They do excellent work, have great customer service and really want you to be happy with the product.

We got my engagement from antiqueengagementrings.com. They specialize in vintage & vintage reproductions and have several settings like that. I’m very satisfied with the service we got & the quality of my ring. You can read their reviews on Yelp by searching for Leigh Jay Nacht in NYC.

This one looks really similar. The style is Edwardian & the setting is either a crown or a tulip setting. I think the tulip has higher prongs than that one. I LOVE the style though, if we’d had the money for a larger stone I would have considered one like that. It’s beautiful!

Wow that looks pretty similar to my ring except mine is rose gold and it sits a tad bit higher but its still very low..the band is 2.2mm
