We completed premarital counseling through the Catholic church; we had no problems with living together before marriage. :) I think it will depend a lot on which church you use, but the majority of Catholic churches nowadays don't make a big deal out of pre-marital cohbitation.
If you are concerned, or if you have a bad experience, you could always check out counseling through a secular/non-church affliated marriage counselor.
ditto, Mrs. Spring. FI & I have been living together for nearly a decade...my priest has no problem with it.
The Church may make some suggestions (mine suggested that we abstain from sex during our engagement), but these are suggestions, not requirements. They have no way of checking on you, so it's really up to you (as the Church intends - your actions, your choices, your consequences - either positive or negative). We're taking the suggestion, but because we want to, not because we feel forced to.
We also have been living together before marriage for a little over a year and have gone through premarital counseling through the Catholic Church. We haven't encountered any problems with it, we just had to answer additional questions on the FOCCUS questionnaire. Other than that, we haven't had any issues come up, and our priest has no problems with it.

So the person who is marrying us wants us to complete premarital counseling. Neither of us are opposed and think it would be benefical. The only problem is I'm getting cold feet about premarital counseling in regards to us living together before marriage, as we will probably seek counseling from either the Catholic or Lutheran church.
Living together for us has been smooth sailing, as we share most of the same quirks and have the same opinions on fiance, family, etc. Any advice from other couples who have LTBM and have completed religious premarital counseling would be SO helpful!
