My parents want me to find a lucky date to get married in 2009, but my mom is having a really hard time finding the 2009 lunar chinese calendar. I am hoping to get married in late April or May next year but things are booking up while I sit here without a date waiting for this calendar to come out. Any suggestions on how to get a calendar or find a lucky date??
I3cheese, I don't think the calendar is out yet. However, the calendar is cyclical, so you can find a pretty good estimate.
I picked my wedding date well in advance too... I used this farmer's almanac to pick our date. We picked 06-07-08, and when I checked it later when the lunar calendar came out it was accurate. Just make sure you pick the accurate time zone. :)
Also, as an FYI, the dates listed there are general lucky dates. To get the luckiest date for you and your FI is to go to a fortune teller. They'll use you birthdates to find your "real" lucky wedding date.
the alamanac is out. we've already picked our 2009 date.
you'll probably be able to get your hands on once if you visit your local chinatown.
we actually used a feng shui master to help us chose our dates... i don't know how traditional or superstitious your parents are... but you might want to be careful in picking "lucky days" because dates are only lucky depending on the zodiac of the people involved... ie, one person's lucky day may be another person's unlucky day.
Hi, Thanks for the quick responses. I'm in Oregon, so I haven't been able to get my hands on the alamanac yet. My mom has been asking everywhere in the Portland Chinatown and "new" Chinatown--but if you've ever been here, it's shameful in comparison to the other amazing chinatowns in the world.
Toucan, I will check out the link you posted and talk to my mom about it.
StrawberryBaby, where did you get your alamanac?? I'll also check about a feng shui master...I'm not sure if my mom knows one.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!! I just can't wait for a date. I can't really do any hard core planning until I get a date, so it's driving me nuts!
apparently there are only 3 LUCKY dates next year. one of my former bm is getting married and that's what she told me. we could be wrong. i don't know what the other dates are, but i know august 15th is one of them since that's the date she ended up picking.
Lucky for me, I finally have a calendar because of a great friend in CA, so THANK YOU to all the responses! I am so lucky to have some fine ladies out there willing to post and let me know what the heck is going on.
there are more then 3 dates. the general lunar year calendar has many dates. you may consult a feng shui master to get a date just suited for you, which in that case may just be a few dates next year.
I actually went to two fortune tellers who used my bday and my FI's. We got totally conflicting dates. Then my sister went online to a fengshui website and seemed to be pretty accurate and we got the dates on there. Our engagement will be on October 18 this year. and it will land on "Heaven's marriage." so will our wedding next year April 18, 2009. I will have to ask her what website she used. She seems to trust it alot. She uses it for business and in her personal life.
My FI and i are looking to get married 2nd August 2009 using the farmer's almanac website too. Everyone says August is good as the number 8 is lucky!! Can someone help me check if it is please. I am also interested in the fengshui website too so please let me know.
I too was using the online tools to find a good date. There was a Chinese site that said 10/25/2009 was a good date and one that said 10/24/2009 is a good date. Then I realized that 10/25 in Asia IS 10/24 here in the US! Argh... This is so confusing! I am sticking with 10/24 even though it has 2 and 4 in it!
